"you know, i would love to talk to you but i really need to catch up with my friends." marina said awkwardly, scratching the back of her neck. "marina...please." remus practically begged.
marina glanced over at her friends who shrugged. "three minutes." she snapped, walking out of the pathway and up against the wall of the boutique. he quickly followed her.
"i think i found a way to prove peter didn't cheat." remus said finally. marina's eyes grew wide and she motioned for him to continue talking. "i just need your help."
marina narrowed her eyes suspiciously, but remus chose to ignore that and continue. "i need you to ask hayden who gave her the photo. if she doesn't know a name just get her to describe the person." he explained. "and then all you have to do is report it back to me. i'll take it from there."
to remus' surprise, marina just shrugged. "i can do that." she said simply. remus had expected a big disagreement, but he was going to take what he can get.
"but i want you to know that i'm not doing this for you. i'm doing it for hayden." she said, turning her head to look back at her friends. remus swallowed hard and nodded quickly. marina turned back to him, her face closer than it had been previously. "anything else?"
remus took a deep breath. things couldn't get any worse, so he just said what he had been thinking the entire time he was talking.
"do you know how hard i am trying not to kiss you right now?"
marina bit her lip, clearly trying to bite back a smile, her face turning a deep red. "i'll get a name and a description back." she said, still smiling as she turned around and raced back to her friends.
all remus had to do was talk to stella.

remus knew the person who told hayden and showed her the picture was a slytherin. he just needed details. and marina's best friend.
the next day he spent the entirety of it looking for stella, but she seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth.
he dragged the others with him after lunch to check the library one more time, though james and sirius complained. peter just stayed quiet.
"hey, we're going to get this figured out, okay?" he said, placing a hand on peter's shoulder for comfort. sirius and james finally shut up and looked sadly at peter. "yeah, pete, everything will be fine!" sirius said.
they approached the library and marina came running up to them, clearly out of breath. "jeez, there you are, i've been looking for you everywhere!" she exclaimed, looking straight at remus.
"oh, what's wrong?" remus asked. marina rolled her eyes. "i found out who it was." she said.
"i don't know her name, but she's a fifth year slytherin. brown curly hair with a tint of blonde in it, hazel eyes, looks a little bit like laura except with curls and glasses." marina explained, looking up and counting off her fingers.
"okay, okay, thanks, that'll help." remus said. "don't thank me." marina said, shaking her head. she then turned to peter.
"if i find out you did cheat on hayden and this whole thing is bullshit, i will not hesitate to have you crushed to a pulp." she hissed. james scoffed.
"you can't beat him up!" he snapped. "laura can." she snapped.
"so can i."
the four boys turned around and marina quickly looked past them and saw felix walking towards them. remus resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
"watch it, pettigrew." he snapped, looking down on him. "right, you better come up with that proof." marina finished. she quickly walked over to felix, wrapping her arm around his and the two walked off.
"what's going on with those two?" sirius asked. remus immediately shook his head. "nothing! nothing at all!" he snapped.
he hoped he was right.
