"what the hell is a sneezewort?"
marina looked up at remus, who had his head in his hands. his potions book was open in front of him, but he didn't seem to be getting much done.
"pretty sure they're used for confusing and befuddlement draughts, don't quote me on that." marina responded, shrugging.
"sounds like a disease." sirius muttered from next to him. "i second that!" james said from the other side of them.
"we're supposed to be studying." marina told them. the two had their wands out in front of them and were blowing on them, to see how far they could go.
"we are studying!" sirius said defensively. "studying what? how hard you can blow?" laura asked, coming up from behind them. sirius and james choked on their laughter.
there were nine of them in the library today. marina, remus, laura, sirius, hayden, peter, amelia, james, and charity. o.w.ls were approaching and it was crunch time.
despite both remus and charity claiming it was "just a kiss", they ended up becoming a couple later that week.
marina was a little upset, as she felt like she couldn't go anywhere with remus because charity was always there, but she told herself it was because he was becoming a close friend.
she wasn't jealous. right?
"marina is right. that's what a sneezewort is used for." charity said, looking at remus with literal hearts in her eyes. marina internally gagged.
remus nodded and quickly went back to his book, while marina stared at charity who stared at him.
"jealous?" sirius whispered to marina, leaning over towards her. "of course not." she said, not faltering at all. sirius made an odd noise before leaning away again.
"i was thinking we could all spend hogsmeade weekend together." hayden said. there was finally a warm hogsmeade weekend coming up, and marina couldn't wait.
"that would be nice, but remus and i are going to go on a date." charity said in a sickening sweet voice. "oh, come on! it'll be fun!" peter said.
"i'm okay with it." remus said. charity's face fell, and marina could tell she was going to have a temper tantrum. laura, hayden, and amelia seemed to notice too, as they all looked nervously towards her.
"you know, i think you guys should go on your date!" amelia said quickly, casting a worrying glance at charity. "yup, i agree." marina said through gritted teeth.
"thank you guys!" she said, smiling at remus. he smiled back at her, and marina fought the urge to roll her eyes
she was always happy for new couples. some more than others.
