if someone had told marina that by the end of fifth year, she would be friends with remus lupin, she would have asked you to take a trip to
the hospital wing.

but, there they were, just weeks after they became friends, lying outside, studying together. the weather had been clearing up, and it was finally warm enough to just sit outside and take in the fresh air.

marina was lying on her stomach, her elbows on the ground and her hands holding her face as
she skimmed through her potions textbook. remus was leaning against the tree, his astronomy book covering his face as he studied it.

"marina?" remus said, lowering the book slightly to look at her. "hm?" she hummed, turning her head and smiling at him.

"how much do you know about the orion? like, the constellation?" he asked. "a lot. what do you need to know?" she asked, rolling over and sitting up, hugging her knees to her chest.

"just some basic facts. i've always had trouble remembering stuff about it." he explained. "well, it means hunter, it's located on the celestial equator, and it can be seen throughout the world." marina told him, a smile dancing on her face.

"how many main stars?" remus asked, writing down what she had previously told him on a piece of parchment. "seven," marina sighed. "there are three stars perfectly aligned, and that's orion's belt."

"you are a genius." remus murmured. "only in astrology. and chess." marina said, winking as she grabbed her potions book.

"okay, okay, i get it, you've beaten me every time we've played chess." remus said, smirking. "well, yes, i am better than you." she boasted. "but last week i almost won!" he stated.

"okay, that didn't count, lily and marlene came rushing in and yelling about your friends." marina spoke. "oh? then why did last nights count? laura and hayden were flocking around us the entire time!" remus inquired.

"they didn't do anything! just stared at us!"

"it made me nervous! they can be scary!"

"did you just call us scary?"

marina and remus quickly looked behind them and saw laura, hayden, lily, marlene, dorcas, mary, and alice walking towards them.

"they travel in packs." remus whispered to marina in a fake menacing voice. marina quickly covered her mouth and shut her eyes so she didn't burst out laughing.

"i believe i did call you scary, laura." remus said, standing up and offering his hand to marina, who gratefully took it and he quickly pulled her up.

"i don't know whether to be offended or proud."
laura said thoughtfully, tapping her chin. "i'm
offended." hayden said, leaning against marlene.

"what are you two lovebirds doing out here, anyway?" lily asked, looking the two up and down. "jesus, not you too." remus said, rubbing his eyes with his hands. "firstly, we aren't lovebirds, secondly, we were just studying." marina explained.

"sure, 'studying'. anyway, where's sirius and peter and james?" mary asked. "why do you want to know?" remus asked, looking at her suspiciously.

"i'm just curious, mate." mary said innocently. "we just wanted to say hi." laura added, a smirk on her face. "okay, now i'm concerned." remus said. marina giggled.

"so, you, their best friend, have no idea where they are?" marlene asked. remus sighed deeply, tossing his head back.

"last time i checked, they were heading to the kitchens. but that was almost an hour ago, so no telling." he confessed, shoving his hands in his pockets and shrugged.

"great!" alice said happily. "you want to come, marina?" laura asked. marina glanced at remus, who nodded, so she agreed.

"hey, same time after school tomorrow?" she asked remus, gathering her stuff. "yeah. library tomorrow?" he asked. marina nodded, holding out her fist, which he bumped with his own.

marina quickly caught up to the girls, who were almost back into the castle by now.

"so, why are we trying to find the boys?" marina asked, shoving her books in her bag. "oh, we just want james." dorcas said, shrugging. "what did james do this time?" she groaned.

"he left a whole bunch of cards on my pillow! how did he even get in the girls dormitory?" lily fumed. "all of them were about forgiving him, and how he loved me and all of this bullshit!"

"did he sign them?" marina asked. "no, but who else could it be?" she asked. they reached the kitchens and lily quickly ticked the pear and stomped inside.

james, sirius, and peter were standing inside.

"potter! you are so dead!"  lily exclaimed, marching foward. james dropped the food in his hands and ran the opposite direction, almost running over multiple house elves in the process.

"miss evans! what are you doing?" one of the house elf's asked. "i'm trying to kill him!" lily thundered, chasing after him.

the other girls watched in amusement. sirius and peter just stood to the side, looking completely dumbfounded.

"what did i do?" james called as he ran past the girls and out into the corridor. "why the hell did you sneak into my dormitory and do that shit!" lily screamed, running after him, their friends closely following.

"i didn't do anything!" james said defensively, turning around and running past them. "then who was it?" lily asked, slowing down. james turned around, his face red and his glasses slipping off his nose.

"i don't know, evans, but i did nothing!" he said. "i swear on it!"

lily looked at him suspiciously, before turning to sirius and peter, who had walked towards james. "were all of you in the dormitory all night?" she asked.

they all nodded, looking quite terrified at the redhead, who seemed to be seething with anger.

"are you guys lying?" laura asked. "no! no! we aren't!" sirius said. even he looked nervous. lily sighed.

"remus would know." marlene said. "that's it! marina, go ask remus!" lily said, snapping her fingers. "why me?" marina asked. "aren't you guys friends?" amelia asked.

"yes, and? so are you, lily." she said. "i'm gonna stay here, in case i need to perform a couple of hexes on these three idiots!" lily said, practically screaming the last two words.

"fine, fine, fine, i'm going." marina grunted, pushing her bag farther up on her shoulder and walking back out of the castle.

"oi! lupin!" she called once she got near the tree. she saw remus, but he didn't see her. in fact, he was doing something.

from where marina was standing, it looked like he was making out with the tree, but even marina knew he wouldn't do that. as she got closer she realized there was someone behind the three.

remus lupin was making out with charity burbage.

hey...how we doing...?
