it was the night after the four hufflepuffs had gone to the city, and there were eating the cake they had made in amelia's room.

marina was playing chess with hayden, laura was jumping on the bed, her piece of cake bouncing up and down on the plate she was holding, and amelia was picking out jewelry for the ball.

"oh, i'm so excited for the ball!" amelia sighed, sitting on the chair in front of her desk. "me too! i'm sure you and marlene will be the most beautiful couple at the ball." hayden gushed. amelia rolled her eyes.

"so none of you have dates?" amelia asked, attempting to take the subject off marlene. "no." the girls chorused. "whoa, we are losers." laura said, stifling in a laugh.

just then there was a knock at the door.

immediately, marina knew something was off; nobody in amelia's house knocks. and the knocks seemed scared. as if the person on the other side of the door was nervous for them to open it.

the others seemed to notice it as well, as they all exchanged uneasy glances.

"who's there?" amelia asked, edging closer to the door. "amelia! hi! are the others in there?" they heard a voice ask. they sounded almost relieved to hear amelia's voice. "who is there?" she repeated.

"peter and remus."

marina choked on air. her hair was in a messy ponytail, she had no make up on, and was wearing her pajamas. there was absolutely no way remus could see her like this.

clearly hayden was thinking the same thing about peter, as they both glanced at each other in pure horror.

"nobody is here!" amelia called. marina mouthed a thank you to her. "you're mom told us otherwise!" the voice, who marina assumed to be peter's, said. "plus laura told sirius you all would be here." remus added.

the three whipped their heads to laura, who smiled awkwardly. "what do you two stalkers want?" she asked. marina stood up and hid underneath the desk, just in case laura decided to open the door. hayden followed her and the two girls squeezed their knees to their chests. amelia swiftly walked over and put a blanket on her chair, preventing the two from being seen.

some may say they were being dramatic, but it was night time, two boys were practically begging to be let in the house, and they had no idea how they even got amelia's address.

marina heard the door open. damn it, laura.

"see? just the two of us." laura snapped. marina heard remus scoff and his footsteps getting closer until they stopped in front of the desk.

he slowly pushed the chair back revealing the two girls. "hello." he said calmly. "hi." she girls chorused, slowly standing up. remus offered his hand to marina, who gratefully took it.

"nothing gets past me." remus sighed. "how did you know we were in there?" hayden asked as marina tried to flatten her hair; it didn't work.

"well, multiple things. the four sleeping bags, the fact that amelia was standing directly in front of it, and the fact that hayden's feet stuck out from underneath." he informed them. marina nudged hayden with her elbow.

"anyways, we are here for a reason." peter said, stepping forward. "and we couldn't wait until school started once more."

"what is it?" marina asked. "yeah, don't just stand there, tell us!" hayden egged on. laura and amelia nodded.

"we have proof that i didn't cheat." peter said, looking directly at hayden. "and we know who is behind it." remus added, staring at marina.
