when marina arrived home, she was shocked to find her grandparents waiting for her. very shocked.

"marina amybeth, finally!" her grandmother said, walking over and wrapping her arms around the girl. "grandmother, hello." she said awkwardly, shooting a look at her parents.

"we were so ecstatic to hear that you would be coming home. and right when we were visiting! what are the odds?" her grandfather said loudly, adjusting his glasses.

"alfie and eleanor are visiting for the week. they arrived monday, and will be leaving tomorrow afternoon." her father explained. alfie and eleanor were her grandparents names. marina nodded slowly.

"i'm going to go upstairs and put my trunk away." marina informed them as she grabbed her trunk. "please come back down after! we have loads to discuss!" eleanor called after.

marina quickly put her trunk on her bed and went back downstairs, intrigued to what her grandparents would want to discuss.

she found her parents and her grandparents sitting at the table with tea and scones. marina resisted the urge to roll her eyes; her parents always tried to be fancy when family came over.

"sit, sit." eleanor said, tapping the seat next to her, holding out a cup of a tea for marina, who happily took it.

"i hear you've been having boy trouble?" alfie asked. marina choked on her tea and shot a death glare to her parents, who smiled apologetically.

"i'm not having boy trouble!" she lied, setting her cup down. "so you aren't have trouble with remus lupin?" alfie asked. "mum! dad!" marina exclaimed.

"well, that would be quite bad if you were having trouble with him. considering who he is." alfie continued. marina looked at him curiously. "what do you mean?" she asked.

"father..." marina's mum warned, but alfie ignored her. "do you seriously not know? or do you just not care?" he asked. marina shrugged.

"he's half-blood! his own mother is muggle born!" alfie explained. marina bit her tongue.

her grandparents had some blood supremacy and thought they were better than everyone else because they were pureblood. it was very annoying.

"why would that matter?" she asked. "it matters everything! you shouldn't be getting involved with those kind of people!" alfie exclaimed.

"well, that's an awful mentality! before everything happened me and remus were friends! and good friends!" marina spat. "someone's blood doesn't define you as a person."

alfie was about to add on, but marina got up from the table and ran to her room, slamming the door behind her. she was fuming.

she still might not be on good terms with remus, but she would defend him and anyone else who wasn't a pureblood until the day she died. if she had known her blood supremest grandparents would be home, she would have certainly hid in her dormitory until the drama was blown over. anything would have been better.

she ran to her desk and grabbed her quill, quickly writing a letter complaining to stella, even though she wasn't totally sure she even knew she was gone yet.

dear stella,
you may have noticed, but i left for home. don't worry, everything is fine. but, of course, alfie and eleanor are here! the biggest blood supremest ever! apparently, mum and dad had mentioned the whole thing with lupin to them, and, somehow, they found out his mother was muggle born? hell, i knew he wasn't pureblood but my god! how did they find out? anyway, they start talking to me about how i shouldn't involve in that kind of stuff and how i shouldn't be friends with him, which i don't even know if i am anymore. but that doesn't matter! even if i'm mad i will defend him! and anyone who isn't pureblood! anyway, that was all. i just needed to talk to someone. see you soon!
love,
marina

she had finished the letter and was putting it into an envelope when she heard a soft knocking at the door.

"come in!" she called, assuming it was her mother. but when she turned around, she was very surprised to see eleanor standing in the doorway.

"that was intense." she said quietly. "you think?" marina muttered. eleanor closed the door and sat on the edge of her bed, facing marina, who was becoming very confused.

"this, erm, remus boy, is he important to you?" she asked. marina was taken aback by this question. "i suppose..." she said slowly.

"it's just...you've never talked like that to your grandfather before. even when he's mentioned things about your other friends." eleanor explained. marina bit her bottom lip.

"i didn't mean to be disrespectful, it's just hard sometimes." marina said, looking down to her lap. eleanor laughed softly.

"well, i may be old, but i'm not an idiot." she said. "this remus boy...tell me about him."

marina took a deep breath.

"well, we used to hate each other. i think. i'm not so sure anymore, but that's not the point. then, last year we became friends. then i started to like him, which was awful, because he was dating my dorm mate, charity! i stopped liking him over the summer, but the moment i get back people begin to tell me that he likes me, since him and charity were done, which is a very odd thing, and, of course, i don't believe it! i then ask him to the hall as friends, he accepts, but then he says to laura about how he's using me to get back with charity, i get mad, he says how it's a lie and how that never happened, it's revealed that charity had actually using bloody polyjuice potion, and boom! now i'm here! avoiding all of my friends!"

eleanor stayed quiet for a couple of moments, apparently thinking hard.

"he clearly cares about you, and you clearly care about him." she said finally. "i'll bet anything that he fancies you."

with that, eleanor stood up and crossed the room. "marina amybeth. you know you fancy him." she said before leaving.

marina stayed in her chair, her mouth open. what the hell?

that's when it finally, finally clicked.

remus liked her. how could she have been so blind? and she liked him too! oh my helga.

marina immediately opened up the letter and added one more thing.

p.s - i suppose i'm not as oblivious as i was before.
