"i hate men."
marina was sitting in transfiguration, her head on her desk. she had just finished telling stella about everything that had happened.
"i've concurred that you and remus are meant to be." she said, picking up one of marina's curls and twirling it around her finger. marina quickly sat up.
"what do you mean?" she asked. stella shrugged. "i'm just saying. you guys seem to have a lot of chemistry." she said.
"stella, i watched him make out with my dormitory mate." marina said in disbelief. stella scoffed. "charity said herself that it was just a kiss." she said. "okay, and charity is notorious for lying?" marina muttered.
"miss phoenix and miss virgo, what is so interesting?" professor mcgonagall asked, her voice piercing like nails around the classroom. "nothing, professor." marina said sweetly, her face turning red as she felt everyone's eyes fall on her and stella.
remus turned around as well, and they made eye contact for a split second, but marina quickly looked back down at her table, causing remus to sigh deeply before turning back around.
james had apologized to him during lunch, and even though he could tell james did not really mean it, he accepted his apology, missing his friends.
"don't worry about it." sirius, who had watched the small encounter, whispered to him. remus shrugged, before going back to writing his notes.
after the class was over, marina had a free period so she rushed to the library to write in the book. she would have loved to complain about what happened, but that would be giving a lot away, so she held herself back.
instead, she said how tired she was of drama between everyone. that didn't give much away, as almost everyone was in some drama.
as she was putting it away, she heard someone call out her name. she quickly shoved the book in and reached for another book, pretending to be looking for that one, and looked up to see james and remus.
"oh, hello." she said softly. "i'm sorry." james said. marina rolled her eyes. "are you actually sorry, or is lupin here making you do this?" she asked.
"i'm actually sorry. remus just followed me here." james said. remus slapped his shoulder, throwing a hard glare his way. james ignored this and held out his hand to marina.
"am i supposed to shake that?" she asked, looking down at it in disgust. james scoffed and put his hand back awkwardly.
"are we done?" she asked. "i am, remus probably isn't." james said, turning on his heel and walking away. he was right; remus stayed.
"so, you snogged ludo bagman?" he asked, leaning against the bookshelf. marina bit her lip. of course she didn't snog ludo, but she just wanted to make things even with him. it was all laura's idea, really.
"no, i was joking." she sighed. remus nodded, looking slightly relieved. "you snogged charity burbage." it wasn't a question.
remus' eyes widened and he looked down quickly. "you saw that?" he asked. "yeah, lily told me to go ask you a question, and when i walked out i saw...whatever you would call that." marina explained, talking fast.
"it was just a kiss. nothing more." remus said, looking up. "that's what charity said too." marina said, rocking back and forth on her feet. "are you mad at me?" remus asked. he shoved his hands in in robes and crossed his fingers, hoping she wasn't.
"i mean, i'm a little upset." marina said truthfully. "i'm your friend, i would have liked to know that you fancied my dormmate."
"i don't fancy her!" remus said defensivly. "oh, so you kissed her just for the fun of it?" marina assumed, her eyebrows raised. "okay, she kissed me, and i don't kiss people. like, at all." he said.
"i see." marina said. "i'm going to go now. can we move the library study session to tomorrow?"
"oh, yeah. yeah, yeah, that's okay." he sighed, his voice breaking slightly. she then quickly walked past him, his eyes sadly following her.
as marina walked out of the library, she told herself something.
i do not fancy remus.
heyyyyy
