the sun was slowly rising over hogwarts, the sunlight seeping into the great hall making students eyes hurt and little dust particles visible as they flew through the air.

marina was tired, resting her chin in her hands and not even bothering to keep her eyes open as she listened to her friends conversation, her other hand picking at her piece of toast.

"isn't it odd?" hayden was saying. marina nodded, not really understanding what she was agreeing to, but she must have done something correct, because hayden quickly went back to rapidly talking about who knows what.

"are you okay?" amelia asked, leaning over towards her. marina quickly opened her eyes and looked towards her, weakly smiling at her. "just tired." she sighed.

amelia nodded, before returning to her own meal and tuning back into hayden, who was now complaining about potions, a subject they could all agree on.

but, marina slowly slid her focus over to the gryffindor table, where she saw the four marauders, deep in conversation. she looked at all of them, wondering why they all looked very serious.

she realized she was staring at remus when he glanced over at her, and marina quickly turned to hayden like she had been listening to her the entire time, but continued to watch remus out of the corner of her eye.

he stared at her for a couple of seconds, before james snapped in front of his face and he turned back to them. why the hell was he staring at her?

"marina? marina, are you listening?"

marina nodded quickly, before realizing she had been staring a little too hard at hayden, and she began to become suspicious.

"what was i talking about, then?" hayden asked. marina winced. "how much you hate potions?" she said. hayden sighed. "about three minutes ago, yes, but i got side tracked." she said. "i was talking about how much i love herbology."

"merlin i hate transfiguration."

marina had decided to sit next to felix in transfiguration today, and he seemed to despise it.

"it's fun!" marina said defensively, quickly writing down something professor mcgonagall said. "it's boring! and hard!" felix protested, sticking his lip out in a pout as he tried to copy marina's notes, but she just slid them away from him.

"i seriously have no idea what we are doing." he muttered, tossing his quill onto the desk and slumping back into his chair. "maybe if you paid attention and didn't talk to me the whole time, you would know." marina said cooly, rolling her eyes and grinning at him. he gave her a very rude hand gesture underneath the desk, making her slap his shoulder.

after transfiguration was over, both marina and felix had a break period, so they went into the library. marina to write back to the person in the book, and felix to try and understand what was happening.

marina also decided to tell him about the book. she decided this when she saw felix's hand writing. the person in the books handwriting is a nice, neat cursive. felix's is more of a messy scrawl.

felix admitted he had no idea who it could
be, but he would definitely be interested in helping, so after thirty minutes of his studying, they began to lay out their options.

"he's a fifth year, correct?" felix asked, tapping his fingers on the wooden table. marina nodded, looking at the book with a sort of dreamy expression on her face.

"what house do you think he is in?" he asked. "i'd say my house or yours. no offense to slytherin and gryffindor, but this person just seems so nice and sophisticated." marina said honestly. felix nodded.

"okay, because i was thinking it could be on of the marauders." he mumbled. marina's eyes widened slightly. "hell no. none of them are this nice." she said.

"the way you talked about remus, he sounded pretty nice." felix said. "he's nice enough, but this person just seems so down to earth." she sighed. "this person wouldn't hate me for five years."

they thought some more, but couldn't think of someone. marina wasn't really interested in finding this person, it would just be nice to know who it is.

"marina!"

marina and felix quickly shoved the book under some other books and parchment and turned to the source of the sound, and, of course, remus was waking towards them.

marina was surprised to not see charity.

"oh, hello." marina said stiffly. things had been odd between them for a while, and marina was constantly uncomfortable with him.

"how are you?" he asked, not even looking at felix, who looked slightly offended by this. marina, who was slightly surprised by this question, thought about it before answering.

"spectacular." she said. remus nodded, and glanced at felix, who smiled and gave a timid wave, but all remus did was nod in his direction, before turning back to marina.

"can we talk?" he asked. "alone."
