it was finally ball day. marina was wearing a beautiful rose gold dress, her long hair was tied up in a bun, and she had a white mask on. everything was just, perfect.

she made her way down to the great hall, and was walking in when someone pulled on her arm. she turned around to see a very tall boy, marina could only assume was remus.

"hello, love." he whispered into her ear. marina blushed at the sound of his voice, and remus took her into the great hall, his grip tight on her hand.

they danced the entire night, and marina couldn't believe the amount of fun she was having.

when the hall was ending, remus pulled her into the corner of the great hall, away from everyone else and out of sight of the teachers.

"marina, i care about you a lot." he said, making marina blush again. he cupped her face into his hands, leaned down, closed his eyes and-

"marina! wake up!"

marina shot her head up to see amelia waiting by her bed. "it's time to get up!" she said happily. marina took a second to remember where she was, before letting out a breath.

"are you alright?" amelia asked, her face falling slightly. "yeah, yeah, i'm good. weird dream." marina sighed, hopping out of bed. amelia nodded and went to the bathroom where laura was.

"good morning, marina!" hayden said as she pulled her socks up. "good morning." marina mumbled, taking her hair out of her ponytail.

"what was this weird dream?" laura called from the bathroom. "nothing!" marina said a little to quickly. even charity looked over suspiciously.

"right...anyways, has anyone except hayden and marina found a date to the ball?" amelia asked. charity shot her head up, and marina internally groaned.

"who are you going with, marina?" she asked, painting a fake smile on her face. "that's none of your business." laura snapped as she was leaving the bathroom. charity seemed to realize who it was, but just left the room.

"she still thinks being nice to us will make lupin fall in love with her?" marina asked to no one in particular. "it's pathetic." laura scoffed.

"anyway, no, i have not gotten a date." laura muttered. "hm, i think that's going to change soon." hayden giggled. laura snapped her head towards her.

"what do you mean by that?" she asked. hayden shrugged. "you'll see."

the four girls were eating breakfast, when the marauders came over to the table. "good morning, ladies." james said.

peter sat down next to hayden, james sat down next to amelia, sirius sat down in between laura and marina, and remus put his chin on marina's head.

"good morning, potter." laura said, tossing him a piece of toast, which he caught in his mouth, causing everyone to laugh.

"so i had a great idea!" peter said suddenly. "oh, godric, this will be good." hayden sighed. "we should play truth or dare!" peter exclaimed.

"i agree!" james said. laura, truth or dare?" he asked, a mischievous smile growing upon his face.

laura thought for a second. "dare." she said finally. james grinned madly.

"i dare you to go to the masquerade ball with sirius." he said. marina glanced over to find sirius holding a box of laura's favorite candies from honeyduke's. "cant back down from a dare." he said, winking.

laura looked at james with a mixture of love and hatred. it was a sight to see. "i'll go with you," laura sighed as she took the box and sirius cheered. "sleep with one eye open tonight, potter."

remus took his chin off marina and glanced down at her. "how come i didn't get anything cute like that?" he asked. "you rejected me the first time!" marina said defensively. "and, besides, they're clearly going as a date. we're going as friends!"

something about saying that didn't sit right with her anymore.
