later that night, marina, laura, hayden, and amelia were making their way down to the library. marina had her nose buried in a book, amelia and hayden were hitting one another, and laura was attempting to count the amount of tiles in the ceiling.

the group arrived at the library and laura happily rushed in, determined to beat the marauders, but, to no avail, as they were already sitting at a rather large table for all of them.

"damn it!" laura hissed as the three other girls caught up to her. "how chivalrous." amelia said sarcastically. the marauders looked over and waved at them, causing laura to scoff.

the four walked over to their table and sat down, marina sitting in-between remus and hayden. "i see you four decided to show up." remus said, a smile pulling at his lips. "eh, hayden was the one who really wanted to come." marina said playfully, causing remus to elbow her in the side jokingly.

the eight all pulled out their books and began to study, sirius and james hitting one another with their quills as they were reading.

only twenty minutes had gone by when marina realized that the writer in the astronomy book could have written back, so she quietly excused herself and grabbed the book, bringing it back to the table and hiding it underneath a stack of books in the center.

"when's the first hogsmeade weekend?" peter asked, looking up from his book. "no idea." laura said. marina noticed at laura and sirius were sitting next to one another, and she gave laura a knowing look, to which laura responded with flipping her off underneath the table.

"i can't wait for it! i miss butterbeer so much." hayden sighed, gently closing her book. "me too! i need to get more prank supplies!" james said, also closing his book, but not as gentle. they heard a "shush!" come from the front of the library, and they all quickly lowered their voices.

"wait, marina, have you seen felix yet?" amelia asked suddenly, changing the subject. marina, who was thrown off by this question, looked at her oddly.

"yeah, i saw him today. he had some stuff to deal with and couldn't come on the first day." she explained. marina didn't notice this, but remus had suddenly clenched his fists and looked down at the table.

"ooo, marina, do you like felix?" james asked, sounding like a young school boy. marina scoffed. "he's like a brother to me, james." she said quickly. james did not look convinced.

marina only thought of felix as a friend. there was actually no one in particular catching her eye at the moment, so it was very odd for james to be asking this.

"i would ask if you liked anyone, potter, but we all know that you're head over heels for lily." marina said, causing remus to snort. "she'll be in love with me by the end of seventh year, just you all wait." james said confidently.

"keep dreaming, potter." laura laughed. "oh, i don't believe you have any room to talk, ryann." james snapped. laura went a bright red and glared at him. "what do you mean?" she asked, her voice quavering slightly.

"i think i know who you fancy." james said simply. laura rolled her eyes, though marina could tell she was getting nervous. sirius apparently did to, as he looked at remus and said, "remus, what about you?"

"shut up." remus muttered, looking up. "do i smell something?" laura asked. "is that the smell of...remus having a crush?"

everyone except remus burst out into laughter, causing for another "shush!" to be sent their way, making them all shut up once more.

"i don't fancy anyone!" remus whispered, crossing his arms in front of his chest stubbornly. "this is a safe place, remus." sirius said, putting his arm on remus' shoulder. "touch me again and see what happens." remus hissed as he shrugged sirius' hand off.

the two began to bicker back and forth, and madam pince, the librarian, came stomping over, causing the two to fall silent. "all of you need to stop talking!" she snapped. "if i have to say it again, you will have to leave!"

everyone quickly opened their books and buried their noses into it. well, everyone except marina.

marina glanced around to make sure nobody was looking and then pulled the astronomy book out and opened it. she unscrewed her ink and gently dipped her quill into it and began writing, once she had realized that the person had wrote back.

after she had finished writing, she quietly closed the book and looked up, only to find remus looking at her.

"taking notes." she lied quickly. remus nodded and looked back down at his book. marina sighed in relief, thinking she had gotten away with it.

she had not.
