when marina walked into the hospital wing, she was not expecting to see remus lupin, reading a book, bandaids covering his body.

he didn't seem to notice her, and she didn't want to alarm him, so she just sat on the bed madam pomfrey pointed to, and patiently waited, her back towards him.

the other patient was a seventh year slytherin, who marina had seen, but she did not know his name. he looked as though he had fallen ill as well.

"marina is the name, right?" madam pomfrey asked. marina winced as she heard remus slam the book shut behind her. "yes ma'am, marina phoenix." she said, her voice coming out scarce, though marina didn't know if it was because of remus behind her, or it was because she was sick.

"what's bothering you?" she asked, feelings marina's forehead. "my head, stomach, and throat are killing me." marina responded, holding her throat, as it hurt the most. madam pomfrey nodded, before turning on her heel and going into her office.

"marina?"

marina sighed and turned around. remus was sitting up, a look of pure horror on his face. "oh, hello." she said, acting as though she had not seen him in here until now. remus clearly wasn't buying it.

"how are you?" he asked awkwardly, attempting to hide the bandaids that covered him. "never better." marina responded sarcastically. "why are you in here?"

remus looked terrified of answering this question, which concerned marina. "did you get in a fight?" she asked, looking at the marks on his body. remus shrugged. she was going to ask more questions, but madam pomfrey came out of her office and handed her a thick paste, that looked disgusting.

she took a sip of it, and it was about as tasty as it looked. she made a disgusted face, causing remus to laugh and madam pomfrey to roll her eyes. "that should help, but i would suggest not going to classes today. you can go to your dormitory." she said. marina opened her mouth to argue, but quickly closed it at the look she was given.

"mr. lupin, you're free to go as well." she said as marina stood up. she heard remus gather his stuff as she headed out the door, and after a mini battle in her head, she decided to wait for remus.

turns out her had raced out of the room to catch up with her anyway.

"you feeling better?" he asked as they began to walk next to one another. "my stomach still hurts, but my head and throat are okay." she said. "i hate stomach aches. it makes it so hard to walk!" remus said. marina nodded; she was already having a lot of trouble walking.

remus seemed to notice this, so he hatched a plan. "i'm carrying you." he said. he stopped walking and marina did as well, looking at him suspiciously. "you're doing what now?" she asked.

remus sighed, and stood directly in front of her, his back to her. "hop on my back, i'm strong." he said. "lupin, that's sweet and all, but may i remind you that you were also in the hospital wing." she said.

remus sighed. "i'm fine. just hop on!" he said. marina hesitated, but a sharp pain just hit her stomach, so she gave in. she grabbed onto her shoulders, which was hard enough as remus is a giant, but was able to jump onto his back.

she wrapped her arms around her neck and rested her chin on his shoulder. "see, i'm super strong." he said. marina giggled, and then remus started walking.

the corridors were beginning to become crowded, and people were giving them odd looks, but marina was in so much pain, that she didn't mind. remus was so happy that he didn't mind.

they finally made it to the hufflepuff common room, and remus gently dropped her down. "feel better, yeah?" he asked, tapping her shoulder. marina nodded, and said goodbye.

after he left, she quickly went into the common room, and came face to face with charity, who seemed livid.

"oh, hello charity." marina said awkwardly. "i saw that." she hissed, her fists balling and her face turning red. marina looked at her oddly. "saw what?" she asked.

"you were being carried by my bloody boyfriend!" she snapped. marina rolled her eyes. "relax, i was feeling bad so he offered." she said. "he offered! remus wouldn't carry someone like you on his back!" she snapped.

"someone like me? please, do explain." marina asked. she felt herself getting lightheaded and knew she should go to bed, but needed to hear charity.

"you know what i meant." she spat. "just stay away from him!"

"he's my friend, you bitch!" marina snapped. that's when charity just lost it.

charity punched marina in the face. then the throat, causing her to fall to the ground. "bitch!" marina gasped. charity seemed to enjoy having the higher ground, as she slammed her foot directly into marina's stomach.

"charity!" marina heard someone yell. she assumed it was hayden, but everything was spinning, so she couldn't be sure. charity seemed to stop, but marina couldn't see shit.

then everything went black.
