remus stared at marina nervously, awaiting her answer, his fingers crossed inside of cloak. marina looked at him oddly, considering her response. then she turned to felix, who gave a slight nod, so, sighing deeply, she nodded and stood up from her chair.

remus led her into an empty aisle, and leaned against a bookshelf, marina doing the same. "what is it you needed to talk about?" she asked, her kind voice sounding forced. remus stayed quiet.

he was going to ask her why she was suddenly spending all of her time with felix, and not with the rest of their friends, but for some reason, he felt his words get caught in his throat and his cheeks heat up furiously.

marina scanned his face, worry filling her eyes as she looked at him, for he looked slightly ill. "are you alright?" she asked. she inched closer to him, lifting her hand up to his forehead and lightly pressing it down, checking for a fever.

"you feel slightly hot, should i take you to the hosipital wing?" she asked, now touching his cheeks. remus felt himself get more nervous every time her hand moved to a new spot on his face, but he forced himself to remain calm.

"i'm-i'm feeling fine." he stuttered out as marina backed up. "are you sure? a lot of students are getting colds." she said, her eyebrows furrowing together. "no, yeah, i'm okay." he said, sliding away. "i should probably get going." he said.

"didn't you want to talk about something?" she asked, placing her hand on his arm. he felt butterflies in his stomach the second she did so, but shook his head. "i forgot what i needed to talk about." he lied.

and with that, he quickly walked out of the library, trying to figure out why marina did that to him.

later that night, everyone had finished dinner, and remus was lying in his bed, staring at the top of his four-poster bed while sirius, james, and peter had a pillow fight.

"what's on your mind, moony?" sirius asked, throwing his pillow at peter, who ducked to the ground. remus groaned in response.

"something is bothering our dear friend!" james said dramatically, slamming his pillow onto sirius' head. "i'm just so confused!" remus sighed, sitting up. the three others stopped their pillow fight and all turned to him, worry painted on their faces.

"what are you confused about?" peter asked, concern laced onto his words. "well, you know how i'm dating charity?" he asked. the boys winced at her name; none of them liked their relationship.

"well, i was hanging out with this other girl, and i felt all these weird feelings." he went on. james raised his eyebrows, urging him to go on. "and now i'm not so sure i want to be with charity." he finished.

"so, you are going to break up with charity?" sirius asked, not even bothering to hide the hopefulness in his voice. remus frowned at him.

"i don't know mate," he muttered. "this girl, she just, i don't know, she just does things to me." james made a face, causing sirius to snort. "well, i think we all know who it is." peter said. james and sirius nodded. "who?" remus asked.

"marina." the three of them said in unison.

remus felt his jaw drop. "no it isn't!" he lied. "we aren't idiots, moony!" sirius said, lying across remus' bed. "it's so obvious you like her!"

"yeah, you had that once crush on her during out third year." peter reminded him. "i was thirteen!" remus said defensively. peter shrugged.

"admit it, moony. you really like marina." james said, walking over and putting his hands on remus' shoulders. remus stared at james.

maybe remus lupin did like marina phoenix.
