marina, sirius, and amelia sat outside the hospital wing, their backs against the cold stone walls. marina was reading one of madam pomfrey's books, sirius was staring at the floor, and amelia was looking up at the ceiling, glancing inside the wing every now and then.
"concussion: a temporary unconsciousness or confusion caused by a blow on the head." she read aloud. sirius and amelia both whipped their heads towards her. "amnesia: a partial or total loss of memory." she continued. "i'm pretty sure that is what madam pomfrey said laura most likely had."
"so, she'll be okay?" sirius asked, standing up and looking inside the room. "of course, madam pomfrey can heal anyone!" amelia exclaimed, also standing up.
"thank you, miss bones, now if you don't mind stop talking so i can focus on your friend. and miss phoenix, please give me back my book!" madam pomfrey called. marina groaned and got up, walking into the room and into her office. she tried to get a glimpse of laura, but madam pomfrey was blocking her.
she left the wing and was surprised when she saw remus running up to her. "why were you in the hospital wing? are you alright?" he asked, cupping her face and examining her. "yes, remus, i'm fine." marina sighed, pushing back from him.
"laura's in there." sirius explained, coming up from behind them. "is she okay?" remus asked. "she'll be fine, she ran into a door. that marina opened." amelia told him. "okay, i get it." marina muttered.
"she doesnt even remember who i am." sirius said quietly. "well, she's probably just suffering from amnesia. she'll be fine soon, i'm sure." remus said sympathetically, reaching over and patting his shoulder.
just then, madam pomfrey came out. "mr. lupin is right, she will be fine. but i want to keep her here for a few days, just to be safe. now i suggest you all leave, dinner is coming up soon." she informed them.
"thank you, ma'am." marina said. her, amelia, and remus began to walk away, but sirius stayed where he was. "you coming?" remus asked him. "i think...i think i'm just going to stay here for a bit." he said, looking back into the wing.
"okay, see you soon, mate." remus sighed, and the three began to walk off again, leaving sirius behind.

the next day, after marina and amelia had told hayden about laura, they went to go and visit her. marina was surprised at first to see sirius standing by the door, but then thought about it more and just shrugged.
"hey, she's sleeping right now." sirius said as the group approached. "madam pomfrey gave her some gross looking medicine that knocked her out in seconds."
hayden ignored him and walked into the hospital wing. marina and amelia just nodded in his direction and followed her in.
laura was lying on her side, sleeping away. she had bandages wrapped over her forehead. she looked to be okay, but they can't judge that by the way she sleeps.
"hello, girls. i'm glad your here." madam pomfrey said as she left her office. "she'll be able to leave tomorrow night, i just need to make sure the bleeding stops for now."
"will she remember us?" marina asked. "i'm sure she will. she's still having a hard time remembering the boy outside the door right now. i'm guessing anyways, she seemed pretty scared when he walked in." she responded. the group nodded sadly.
"don't worry about it, everything will be fine!" madam pomfrey assured them as they turned around to leave.
they walked outside and sirius immediately stood up. "so?" he asked. "she'll leave tomorrow evening." amelia told him as they walked by.
they decided to go to the library. the three girls all had homework that needed to be completed before the break happened, so the quiet library would be the perfect place to get it done.
of course, luck is never on their side.
the moment they walked in they saw james, remus, and peter were standing near the bookshelf. "nope, not today." hayden mumbled, turning around and beginning to walk out.
"hayden! hayden, wait!" peter called, rushing past marina and amelia and grabbing hayden's hand, pulling her towards him. she immediately yanked her hand away, but stayed there.
"i just...i just wanted to say sorry about laura." he said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "okay?" hayden muttered, before once again turning around and walking out.
"wait! there's something else!" peter said, following her out of the library. marina could no longer hear their conversation, so her and amelia walked to a table, completely ignoring james and remus who stared at them.
"if she begins to date peter again, i might have to be sent to azkaban." amelia whispered.
