Mitch's Johto Journey

Cherrygrove's Food Thief

                 An evening view of Cherrygrove City is shown before it pans down to the inside of the Cherrygrove Pokémon Center. Cyndaquil and Hoothoot stand in front of one of the changing rooms and stare curiously at the closed door. After a few minutes, Mitch opens the door, walks out, and curiously asks, " what do you think?"  His glasses remain the same, but his green short sleeved t-shirt has been replaced by a dark blue long-sleeved shirt with the image of a Poke Ball in the center of it, his black shorts have been replaced by green sweatpants, his green shoes have been replaced by black sneakers whilst his black socks have been replaced with white socks, and his green hat has been replaced by a yellow beanie. The two Pokémon think for a few seconds before happily shouting, " Quil, Quil," and " Hoothoot, Hoot," to show their approval. " Glad you guys like it," he says before all three of their stomachs loudly growl. " Well, I guess that means it's time to eat," he chuckles as the three of them make their way to the cafeteria.

                    The three of them enter the cafeteria and Mitch watches as Cyndaquil and Hoothoot run/fly over to the area where the Pokémon food is located. However, Mitch notices something as they begin to munch down on their food: Whilst the area for human food is fully stocked, the area for Pokémon food is drastically understocked. "I'm sure you're wondering where all the food for the Pokémon is," a sweet-sounding voice from behind him says. He turns around to find the Cherrygrove City Nurse Joy standing there as she begins to explain what is going on. " You see for the past few weeks a wild Pokémon has been sneaking into the center and eating as much Pokémon food as it can. At first, we had more than enough food, but after a while it got more and more gluttonous. Luckily, we have a food delivery scheduled for in the morning, but that just means that there will be more food for the thief to take." 

               Mitch thinks for a few seconds as a now full Cyndaquil and Hoothoot walk over to him.  He looks down at them before looking back at Nurse Joy and saying, " Don't worry, we'll keep watch tonight and make sure that the thief never comes back here again!" " That would be wonderful, thank you so much for your help," she happily exclaims. Nurse Joy walks back to the Pokémon Center counter in case anybody with hurt or tired Pokémon comes in as Mitch, Cyndaquil, and Hoothoot sit down at one of the cafeteria tables and begin to think of a plan.

Later that Night

                    Night has fallen and the Pokémon Center is pitch black (self-help healing machines have been placed outside in case any passing trainer comes by that is in need of them), Mitch and Cyndaquil hide behind the counters that the human food is placed in as Hoothoot hides underneath a table right next to the Pokémon food counters. Since Hoothoot as a species are primarily nocturnal, it was decided that Hoothoot should be the one closest to where the thief will most likely turn up just in case Mitch and Cyndaquil accidentally go to sleep. Speaking of which, Mitch and Cyndaquil are slowly starting to drift off as they have been waiting for hours at this point.

                Suddenly, a pained cry forces Mitch and Cyndaquil out of their drowsiness, " Ursaaaa!" They quickly jump over the counter and Cyndaquil ignites its back flame to give them some light to see with. Hoothoot uses its Peck attack to knock the thief into the light before flying over and landing on Mitch's right shoulder. A small, orange-brown, bear-like Pokémon with a crescent moon marking on its face lies on the floor in front of them.  " Ursaaaaaaa," it angrily shouts as it jumps to its feet and gets into a battle stance whilst Mitch brings out his Johto Pokedex. " Teddiursa, the Little Bear Pokémon, a Normal type, before food becomes scare in wintertime, it hoards its food in many hidden locations."  " Okay, Cyndaquil, attack with Tackle," Mitch orders as Cyndaquil cries, " Quillll" and runs at Teddiursa. " Ursaaaa," it cries as the claws on its right paw glow white and it slashes Cyndaquil across the face with them. The Scratch attack knocks Cyndaquil back a few inches, but it quickly recovers as Teddiursa rushes forward for another Scratch. " Use Smokescreen as cover and then hit it with Tackle!"

              " Cyndaaaa," Cyndaquil exclaims before shooting a cloud of black smoke out of its mouth. " Ursaa," Teddiursa cries as the smoke surrounds it and badly obscures its vision. It desperately cries to look around for its target only for Cyndaquil to slam into it from its right side. " Ursaaaaaaaa," it screeches as it is knocked out of the smoke and slams into the back of a cafeteria chair. Teddiursa quickly jumps back to its feet and the smoke fades out, revealing a stoic looking Cyndaquil. Teddiursa jumps at Cyndaquil for another Scratch, but Mitch quickly yells, " counter that with Ember!" " Cyndaaaaaaaaa," it fires multiple small fire balls out of its mouth that hit Teddiursa and explode on impact. " Teeeeeeeddd," it cries as the Fire type move knocks it to the floor. 

                  Teddiursa tries to get back to its feet but is forced to stop and clutch its belly as it loudly rumbles with hunger. Mitch looks at Teddiursa with sympathy, thinks to himself for a few seconds, and then yells, " don't worry, Teddiursa! After tonight, you won't ever have to worry about going hungry again. Hoothoot, use Hypnosis!" " Hoooooooooooot," it screeches as it flies off of Mitch's shoulder, levitates between Cyndaquil and Teddiursa, and fires a bunch of black circles out of its eyes that gradually get bigger the closer they get to Teddiursa. The circles hit Teddiursa and it quickly falls over on its belly, fast asleep. "Now, go Poke Ball," Mitch hollers while throwing an empty Poke Ball at the sleeping Normal type. The ball hits Teddiursa on the end of its small, round tail, sucks it inside, and begins to shake. It takes a few seconds, but the capture noise goes off and Mitch walks over it in, picks it up, and sympathetically stares at it.  

The Next Day

                        "Teddiursa, I choose you," Mitch exclaims whilst throwing a Poke Ball into the air. " Ursaaaa," it cries as it lands in front of a large bowl of food and curiously looks around and sees Mitch, Cyndaquil, Hoothoot, and the Cherrygrove City Nurse Joy standing around it. " This food is all for you and as long as you're with us, you'll never go hungry again," Mitch kindly says as Teddiursa turns around and begin to ravenously tear into the food as everybody around it chuckles.
