" Okay, you have the Zephyr Badge from the gym in Violet City ( a flashback of Cyndaquil slamming into Murkrow with a Blaze boosted Flame Wheel is shown), the Hive Badge from the gym in Azalea Town ( a flashback of Hoothoot using Confusion on Scyther is shown), the Plain Badge from the gym in Goldenrod City ( a flashback of Quilava and Miltank's draw is shown), the Fog Badge from the gym in Ecruteak City ( a flashback of Phanpy hitting Gengar with Bulldoze is shown), the Mineral Badge from the gym in Olivine City ( a flashback of Typhlosion slamming into the side of Steelix's head with Flame Charge is shown), the Storm Badge from the gym in Cianwood City ( a flashback of Misdreavus preventing Poliwrath from using Bulk Up by using Taunt and then using Psybeam on it is shown), the Glacier Badge from the gym in Mahogany Town ( a flashback of Typhlosion firing Overheat at Piloswine is shown), and the Rising Badge from the gym in Blackthorn City," ( a flashback of Typhlosion using Blast Burn on Kingdra and getting up after being hit by Draco Meteor is shown) a man at a computer says as he looks at Mitch's badge case. " Yep, all of these check out! You are officially signed for up the Silver Conference," he says while handing Mitch his badge case back.

" Great," Mitch says as he and Typhlosion grin in excitement. " The Silver Conference is extremely similar to the Indigo League that you were apart. The first five rounds will be three on three battles and then the rest will be Full Battles, the Pokémon you use in each round must be predetermined and registered into our system before each round starts, and there are multiple different types of battlefields that you can battle on. The only differences are the fact that we have 4 additional battlefields in addition to the Grass, Ice, Water, Rock, and Dirt Battlefields and you may have end up on the same battlefield more than once before you fight on all of them. Those additional battlefields are Forest, City, Oasis, and Mountaintop. I wish you the best in this tournament," the man says before Mitch and Typhlosion head to the exit.

Mitch and Typhlosion spend the next several hours walking around the large town surrounding the Silver Conference arena and interact with many of their acquaintances. They share snacks with Atto and his Lanturn at a candy shop, carry bags of clothes for Alexandra alongside her Meganium, play cards with Izzy and her Granbull, have lunch with Ella and Tyranitar, and have a tense and silent interaction with Joe and Feraligatr. Eventually, they go to an area where battles are allowed and see a large crowd gathered around one of the battlefields. A trainer with a light green shirt, a straw hat, red shorts, white sneakers, and a black backpack with one strap is commanding  a green, bipedal, lizard-like Pokémon with a pair of sharp blades on both of its arms and a tail like a palm tree in a battle with Harry, the former " Amazing Heracross Trainer", and his Electabuzz.

" Get up and use Thunder Punch," Harry commands as his Electabuzz, who is currently on its knees, slowly gets up and covers its right fist in electricity. " Buuuuuzzzzzz," it exclaims while running towards the other Pokémon. " Sceptile, use Detect and then Leaf Blade," the other trainer orders as his Pokémon's eyes glow blue and it skillfully twists out of the way of Electabuzz's Thunder Punch. " Sceeeeppp," the Pokémon yells as the blade-like appendages on its arms glow green and the ends of them form into extremely sharp tips before it slices Electabuzz across the chest with them. " Eleeeeeectaaaaaaaaa," it cries as it stumbles backwards and falls over on its back with spirals in its eyes. An embarrassed Harry quickly recalls Electabuzz and runs to the nearest Pokémon Center as the crowd disperses and the other trainer begins to walk in Mitch and Typhlosion's direction.

" Sceptile? I don't think I've ever heard of that Pokémon," Mitch says while pulling out his Pokédex. " No data is available in the Johto Pokédex for this Pokémon."  " Hey, is that a Typhlosion! That's so cool," the trainer, who approached Mitch as he was looking at the Pokédex, says whilst pulling out a Pokédex, that is more rectangular than Mitch's, of his own and using it on Typhlosion. " Typhlosion, the Volcano Pokémon, a Fire-Type, the evolved form of Quilava and the final evolved form of Cyndaquil, if its rage peaks, it becomes so hot that anything that touches it will instantly go up in flames,"  the machine, which has a more feminine voice than the one Mitch has, explains before he puts it back in his backpack. " I'm Ian Reyes and this is Sceptile, I'm from Oldale Town in the Hoenn Region and Sceptile is the Starter Pokémon I got in Littleroot Town!" " I'm Mitch Harper and I'm from Pallet Town in the Kanto Region, Typhlosion is actually my 2nd second Starter Pokémon after the Charizard I used in Kanto, I got it in New Bark Town," he explains. " Well Mitch you seem like a strong trainer, I hope we get to battle you," Ian says as he and Mitch shake hands and Sceptile and Typhlosion do the same.
