Porygon's Upgrade

  Note: As of this chapter, Mitch is now 12 years old. 

       " Bellossom, use your Grassy Glide," a female Trainer shouts as a pair of wings, made of light green energy, sprout out of her Bellossom's back. " Soooooom," it cries as it glides towards its opponent, Mitch's Spinarak, at a very high speed. " Counter with Electroweb," Mitch orders as Spinarak fires a web of electricity from its mouth. " Bellllllllll," it screams as the web hits it, cancelling out its Grassy Glide, and shocks it. After a few minutes, the web fades away and Bellossom falls to its knees. " Wrap this up with Poison Jab," Mitch orders as the horn on Spinarak's head begins to glow purple. " Raaaaaak," it cries as it jumps forward and stabs Bellossom in the chest with its glowing purple horn. " Belllllllll" it screams as it falls backwards and lands on the ground with spirals in its eyes.

      " Great battle," the trainer says whilst recalling Bellossom to a Dusk Ball. " Thanks," Mitch says as he pats his victorious Spinarak on the head and the rest of his party, who were watching the battle from the sidelines, cheer. " So, you're name is Mitch and you have a Porygon. Would you happen to know a Professor Collard," she says while gesturing towards Porygon. " Yeah, he's the one that gave me Porygon. Why are you asking," he replies as Porygon hovers next to him with a curious look on its face. " Well, he's living in a cabin not too far from him and was asking people if they had seen you," she says while pointing in the direction of the cabin. " Well, I guess I'll have to pay him a visit," Mitch says as Porygon nods in agreement.

          " Ah, Mitch! So good to see you. Please, come in and have a seat," Professor Collard says as he opens the door to his cabin and points towards a table inside the table. " Thanks, Professor, good to see you too," Mitch replies as he, Porygon, and Quilava  ( his other Pokémon were recalled on the way there) come into the cabin. Mitch sits down at the table as Quilava sits on the ground at his left side and Porygon levitates at his right side. " I watched you all battle in the Indigo League and let me just say, Porygon would have taken out that Espeon if it wasn't for that pesky Future Sight that it used earlier in the battle," Collard says as he pats Porygon on the head before sitting down on the table in front of Mitch. " So, what did you want us here for," Mitch asks. " Well, I'm sure you've noticed that a lot of Pokémon from the Kanto Region have evolutions here in Johto that they seem to be unable to evolve into while they are in the Kanto Region. Some examples being the Espeon and Bellossom that you faced in the Indigo League. I came here after my vacation to the Sevii Islands when I learned that Porygon has an evolution here. A evolution caused by this item," he explains as he pulls a transparent, square box that appears to have a data CD in it from his coat pocket.  

       " This is an Upgrade, an Evolution item that works just like Evolution stones do. All a Pokémon that is capable of evolving by its use has to do it make contact with it and that Pokémon will evolve. Porygon is currently the only know Pokémon that evolves when exposed to an Upgrade," Collard explains as Porygon eagerly stares at the Upgrade. Mitch notices Porygon's stare and says, " Porygon, are you up for a new form and a power boost?" " Gon, Gon, Pory, Porygon, Gon," it happily shouts as a reply. " Well in that case, I'm ready when you are," Mitch says as Porygon floats forward and touches the Upgrade with its nose. "Gooon," it mumbles as its body begins to glow in a blinding white light. The light fades away and a Pokémon that looks like a much thinner version of Porygon floats where Porygon once floated. " Goo, 2, Pory, Pory, Porygon2," it happily cries as Mitch brings out his Pokédex. " Porygon2, the Virtual Pokémon, a Normal-type, the evolved form of Porygon, this is a Porygon that was updated with special data. Porygon2 develops itself by learning about many different subjects all on its own."

       " Geez, whoever came up with that name didn't have a creative mind at all," Mitch says as Porygon2 twirls through the air in celebration. " So, now that Porygon has evolved, would you like to test out its new strength," Collard says whilst taking a Poké Ball out of his pocket. Mitch and Porygon2 stop and stare at each other before both of them confidently grin.  " You're on," Mitch hollers.

             Everyone has moved to a clearing behind Professor Collard's cabin so he and Mitch can have their battle. Porygon2 levitates in front of Mitch as Collard throws the Poké Ball containing his Pokémon into the air. " Azu, Marill, Azu, Azu, Azumarill," it cries as it lands in front of Collard and Mitch brings his Pokédex back out. " Azumarill, the Aqua Rabbit Pokémon, a Water and Fairy-type, the evolved form of Marill, its long ears are superb sensors. It can distinguish the movements of living things on riverbeds." " Use Psybeam," Mitch orders as Porygon2 fires two beams of pink psychic energy out of its eyes that end up combining into one big beam. " Hydro Pump," Collard says as Azumarill fires a large stream of water from its mouth. The Psybeam and Hydro Pump collide, but the Hydro Pump proves itself to be stronger, it pushes through the Psybeam and hits Porygon2. " Goooooooon," it cries as it it almost knocked out of the air by the attack. 

         " You okay, Porygon2," Mitch asks as Porygon2 nods. " Azumarill, use Focus Blast," Collard exclaims as a big ball of yellow energy begins to form between Azumarill's hands. " Azuuuuuuu," it cries as it throws the Focus Blast at Porygon2. " Dodge and use your Zap Cannon," Mitch commands as Porygon2 floats out of the way of the Focus Blast, causing it to harmlessly explode on the ground. " Poooooooooooooryyyyyyyyyyyyy222222222," it screams as a very large ball of electricity, with several small bolts of lightning circling around it, forms in front of its chest. Porygon2 fires the Zap Cannon from its chest and it hits Azumarill on the chest, exploding on impact. " Azzzzzzzzzzzuuuuuuu," it screams as the Super Effective move sends it flying backwards, landing on its back in front of Professor Pollard. " Hang in there, Azumarill! Hit it with your Play Rough attack," Pollard hollers as Azumarill jumps to its feet with its body glowing in a bright pink energy. " Azuuuuuuumaaaaaaaariiiiiiill," it screams as it jumps forward and begins to repeatable kick, punch, headbutt, and tail whip Porygon2. " Pooooooooooor," it screams as the assault continues.

      " Use Ice Beam to get it away from you and then use Hyper Beam," Mitch hollers as Porygon2 fires a medium sized beam of ice from its mouth, knocking Azumarill back and stopping its Play Rough. Azumarill lands on one knee in front of Professor Pollard and struggles to stand back up. " Pooooooooooryyyyyygoooooooon22222222," it screams as it fires a very large beam of bright red energy from its mouth. " Azuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu," it loudly cries as the powerful Normal-type move hits it and knocks it backwards, it slams into a tree and lands at the base of it with spirals in its eyes. " Great job, Porygon2, " Lava, Lava, Quilava," Mitch and Quilava congratulate as Porygon floats up to them and smiles whilst Pollard returns Azumarill to its Poké Ball.  " So, what do you think about that evolution," Pollard asks as he walks up to them and gives Porygon2 a friendly pat on the head. " It's amazing, but I'm still a little unsure about that name. The evolution of Porygon is just called Porygon2? What were they thinking," Mitch asks as everyone else chuckles.

Author's Notes: Yes, I'm going with the Legends: Arceus method when it comes to trade evolutions. Pokémon that need to be traded whilst holding certain items will just have to be exposed to those items in order to evolve while Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, Haunter, Boldore, Gurdurr, Phantump, and Pumpkaboo will evolve when exposed to a Linking Cord item. 

Karrablast and Shelmet will evolve by spending a few minutes near each other.
