Mitch's Johto Journey

An Eggciting Tournament ( Part 1)

     Mitch and Typhlosion walk towards the Pokémon Center of a medium sized town as Mitch reads from his Johto guidebook. " So, this is Harebell Town and we seem to be really lucky because it says that this town holds battle tournaments every few months and it attracts trainers from across the region. The next tournament actually starts tomorrow and it says we can sign up for it at the Harebell Town Pokémon Center if we want to participate," he says as Typhlosion nods along to every word. " We could use this as an opportunity to train for our Mahogany Town Gym battle and our battle with Joe at the Lake of Rage, you want to give it a try," he asks as Typhlosion eagerly smirks. " Tyyyyyyyy," it says with a nod as they walk into the Pokémon Center.

     " You got here just in time! We had one slot left open and it looks like it will be filled by you," the Harebell Town Nurse Joy says whilst typing something into a computer. Mitch and Typhlosion look at each other and high five in celebration as Joy finishes typing. " Now for the rules, the tournament will take place on a dirt battlefield and each battle will be three on three. If you lose any of these three on three battles it means you're out of the tournament. We'll go until only one trainer is left standing. In addition, you may only use the same Pokémon once throughout the tournament. For example, if you use your Typhlosion in one battle than you can't use it in any of the other battles. Any questions? " The guidebook mentioned that the winner of each tournament wins a prize and that prize is different each tournament. Would you happen to know what the prize of this tournament is?" " The prize is a Pokémon egg that is a few weeks away from hatching. Would that be of interest to you? " Definitely! I'm so ready for this tournament,"  Mitch shouts as he and Typhlosion eagerly grin.

    " It's time for the third battle of this tournament! In the left corner, we have Omid from Violet City and in the right, it's Mitch from Pallet Town," a referee shouts as a large crowd cheers whilst Mitch and Omid take their places. " It has been decided that Mitch will have the 1st move! Let the battle commence," the referee yells as Mitch takes a Poké Ball out of his pocket. " I choose Octillery," he yells as he throws the ball upwards. " Oct, Lery, Lery, Oct, Octillery," it exclaims as it lands on the battlefield. " And I choose Raichu," Omid hollers whilst tossing a Poké Ball in Octillery's direction. " Rai, Rai, Chu, Rai, Raichu, Rai," it yells as it lands in front of Octillery and electricity sparks through its cheeks. " Use Octazooka," Mitch orders as Octillery spits a large ball of black ink out of its mouth. "Counter the Octazooka with Electro Ball and then use Brick Break on Octillery," Omid says as a ball of of electricity forms on the tip of Raichu's tail. " Raaaaaaiii," it yells as it uses its tail to fling the Electro Ball at the incoming Octazooka. The ball of ink and ball of electricity collide and create a small explosion, giving Raichu enough cover to sneak up on Octillery and slam a Brick Break into its right side. 

   " Ooooooooooccccttttttt," Octillery cries as it is knocked a few feet across the battlefield by the Brick Break. It manages to land right side up as Mitch tells it to, " fight back with Liquidation!" A sword made of water forms between Octillery's front two tentacles before it launches itself forward and slices Raichu across the chest with the sword. " Chuuuuuuuuuuuuuu," it cries as the attack sends it skidding through the dirt on its back. Eventually, it stops and manages to get back on its feet as its body flashes light blue to show that its Defense has been lowered. " Now try a Sludge Wave," Mitch yells as Octillery slams a glowing purple tentacle on the ground, sending a little wave of purple slime towards Raichu. " Jump over that wave and use Volt Tackle," Omid exclaims as Raichu jumps over the slime and lands on all fours on the other side of it. " Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiichuuuuuuuuuuuuuu," it screams as its body become surrounded by bright golden electricity and it rushes towards Octillery at top speed. Raichu slams into Octillery and flings it through the air. " Leeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrryyyy," it cries in a pained town before landing on its right side with a loud thud. " Oooooocttt," it mumbles as spirals appear in its eyes.
