A view of a Pokémon Center at the edge of a forest is shown before it pans down to the small battlefield behind the Center. " Laaaaavaaaa," Quilava shouts as it rolls into a ball of fire and moves towards its opponent: Charizard.  " Zaaaaaaaaard," it roars before firing a medium sized stream of fire out of its mouth. Charizard's Flamethrower overpowers Quilava's Flame Wheel and sends Quilava flying backwards. It hits the ground with a loud thud, but quickly jumps to its feet and shoots multiple stars made of yellow energy out of its mouth. " Zaaard," it mumbles as the Swift explodes on its chest. " Chaaaaaar," it yells while shooting a big ball of purple energy out of its mouth. " Laaaaaaava," it shouts as it jumps over the Dragon Pulse and runs very very toward Charizard with a streak of white energy trailing behind it. Charizard is quick to counter Quilava's Quick Attack by firing off another Dragon Pulse. Quilava hits the Dragon Pulse head on and is knocked to the ground by the resulting explosion.

Quilava jumps back to its feet and prepares to use Lava Plume while Charizard's body glows bright red in preparation for an Overheat. However, they are stopped by Mitch yelling at them.  " That's enough you two! Come over here and eat before you tire yourselves out too much," he says while pointing at two bowls of Pokémon Food. Both of them reluctantly walk over to where their trainer is sitting and begin to devour their food as Mitch thinks about something for a few seconds. " You guys stay here and eat, I'll be back in a few minutes," he says before walking inside the Pokémon Center.

" I see. Well the thing is Mitch a lot of your Kanto Pokémon having been training here at the lab in preparation for you to use them in the Johto League Tournament and that includes Charizard. It prefers to train by battling against some of your stronger Pokémon like Blastoise, Venusaur, Pidgeot, Primeape, Dragonite, and Snorlax," Professor Oak, who Mitch is talking to on a video phone inside the Pokémon Center, explains. " Well, that would it explain why it has gotten so much stronger. I guess its time for me to send it back to you so it can restart its training" Mitch replies. " However, I should point out that you didn't get to spend a long of time traveling and training with some of your other Kanto Pokémon. I'm sure Pokémon such as your Ponyta, Shellder, and Spearow would love to get to train more with you." " So, what do you suggest I do?" " Well, you're allowed to carry six Pokémon on you, so I suggest that you dedicate one of those slots to your Kanto Pokémon. Therefore, you'll always have one Kanto caught Pokémon in your party addition to five Johto caught Pokémon." " Sounds like a great idea, Professor! I'll go get Charizard and exchange it for one of my other Kanto Pokémon. I'll call you back in a few minutes!" " Excellent! In the meantime, I'll go and get one of your lesser trained Kanto Pokémon and prepare it for transportation," Oak says as the video call ends and Mitch heads back outside.

Mitch exits the Pokémon Center just in time to see Charizard fire an Overheat into the air while Quilava watches. " Zard, Zard, Zard, Char, Charizard," it says to Quilava as it nods its head. " So, you're trying to teach Quilava how to use Overheat," Mitch says as Charizard nods its head. " Lavaaaaaaaa," Quilava shouts as it body glows red and it tries to shoot out an Overheat, it fails. " Don't worry Quilava, you'll learn it with enough practice, but right now it's time to send Charizard back to Professor Oak's lab so it can get back to training!" Charizard pats Quilava on the head before walking over to Mitch and giving him a hug. He returns the hug whilst taking Charizard's off of his belt. " See you soon, buddy," he says as recalls his first Pokémon and walks back into the Pokémon Center with Quilava at his side.

" Ready, Professor," Mitch says as he puts Charizard's Poke Ball in the Teleportation Machine next to the video phone. " Ready," Oak says as he holds up a Safari Ball and puts it in his Teleportation Machine. " One, two, three, exchange begin," they both say at the same time while clicking the Teleportation Buttons on their machines. In just a couple of seconds, Charizard's Poke Ball teleports to Oak's lab and the Safari Ball teleports to the Pokémon Center that Mitch is in.

" Alright, Charizard's back here, so I'll go take it to your section of my property. See you later, dear boy," Oak says while hanging up.  Mitch takes the Safari Ball out of the machine and puts it on his belt before turning to face Quilava. " I think it's time to get to Ecruteak and take on Morty," he says with a eager grin. However, before Quilava, can respond, the Pokémon in the Safari Ball lets itself out.  " Do, Do, Duo, Doduo," Mitch's Doduo happily shout as they lunge forward for a hug. " Hey, hey, it's nice to see you too Doduo, but watch the talons," Mitch yells as they land on top of him and knock him to the floor.
