Mitch's Johto Journey

Springs Skirmish

   A view of a steaming hot spring is shown before it pans out to reveal Mitch and his party ( consisting of Typhlosion, Pupitar, Ariados, Bayleef, Misdreavus, and Aerodactyl ) standing in front of it. " Hot spring filled area my ass. This is the only one we've seen and we've been here for hours," he says in a slightly aggravated tone whilst looking at the guide book. All six of his Pokémon nod in agreement as he puts the book back in his backpack. " Guess we better get in while we have the chance, bathing in a hot spring does have plenty of benefits," he says whilst searching his backpack for his swimming trunks. " Not so fast," calls a voice from the nearby woods. Out of those words, comes a girl with bright orange hair that is pulled back into a ponytail, a green tank top, green short shorts, and green shoes and her party of Pokémon. ( consisting of a Dunsparce, a Granbull, a Slowpoke, a Flaaffy, a Natu, and a small brown and hairy pig-like Pokémon that Mitch has never seen before)

 " I'm Izzy and we've been using Swinub to try to find this hot spring. We've been searching for hours and aren't about to let somebody else just swoop and take it after searching for so long," she says whilst gesturing towards the pig-like Pokémon that Mitch decides to use his Pokédex on. " Swinub, the Pig Pokémon, an Ice and Ground-type, it has a very sensitive nose. It can locate mushrooms, berries, and even hot springs buried under ice." " Well, I'm Mitch and we've searched for a hot spring for hours too and are also not willing to give this one up so easily," he says as his Pokémon nod in agreement. " In that case, I challenge you to a one on one battle! The winner gets to bathe in the hot spring first, I'll be using Swinub," Izzy says as Swinub moves forward and stands at the edge of the large area between Mitch and Izzy.  " Fine, we accept, I'll use Pupitar," Mitch says as Pupitar hops forward and has a stare-down with Swinub. " Swiiiiiiiiii," " Taaaaaaarrr," they both growl whilst awaiting orders from their trainers. 

 " Show them your Icy Wind," Izzy commands whilst Swinub fires multiple snow flurries out of its mouth. " Fight back with Snarl," Mitch shouts as Pupitar releases a sound wave of black energy from its mouth. The two moves collide and the Snarl manages to push through the snow flurries and head towards Swinub. " Use Dig and make it snappy," Izzy cries as Swinub manages to dig a hole and jump into it right as the Snarl passes over it. " They're not the only ones that can do that! Use a Dig of your own," Mitch hollers as Pupitar quickly makes a hole and dives into it. It takes a couple of minutes, but the sounds of a collision come from below ground and both Pupitar and Swinub emerge with pained expressions on their faces. " Don't let that hold you back! Use Body Slam," Izzy shouts as Swinub jumps into the air and prepares to fall on Pupitar. " Stop it with Stone Edge," Mitch exclaims as Pupitar summons multiple grey, sharp, and rectangular stones and sends them at Swinub. " Nuuuuuuuuuuuubb," it yells as the stones explode on its belly and knock it off course, causing it Body Slam the ground instead of Pupitar. " Swiiiiiiiiii," it screams as it takes some damage. 

  " Don't give up yet! Try an Avalanche," Izzy exclaims as Swinub's body becomes outlined in a snow white aura and it somehow causes a large amount of snow to materialize above Pupitar. "Taaaaaaaaaaarrrrr," it screams as the snow falls on top of it. The snow fades away after a few seconds and Pupitar slowly gets back up. " Use Take Down before it can fully recover," she yells as Swinub, with four streaks of red energy surrounding its body, runs towards Pupitar. " Push it back with Assurance,"  Mitch shouts before a large hand of black energy comes out of Pupitar and hits Swinub, exploding on contact. " Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuubbbbb," it cries as it is flung backwards and lands on its back in front of Izzy. " Stay strong Swinub! Remember, there's a soak in the hot spring as a reward if you win this battle," she yells as Swinub gets a determined look on its face and jumps back up. " That's the spirit! Use another Icy Wind," she shouts as Swinub fires the attack from its mouth. " Time to get repetitive! Counter with Snarl," Mitch shouts as Pupitar releases the sound wave from its mouth. Just like before, the attacks briefly collide and the Snarl pushes through before heading towards Swinub. 

 " I guess we are getting repetitive, Swinub, use Dig attack," Izzy shouts as Swinub digs another hole in the ground and jumps into it, avoiding Snarl again. " Pupitar, I think you know what to do," Mitch says as Pupitar makes another hole that it dives into. Before the two can collide again, Mitch decides to shout another command, " use an underground Hyper Beam!" " Puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupiiiiiiiitaaaaaaaarrrrrr," it screams as the sounds of it firing the attack can be heard. " Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii," Swinub cries as the attack hits it and sends it back to the surface. It lands on its side in front of Izzy as Pupitar manages to get back above ground before the Hyper Beam recharge sets it. 

   After several minutes pass, it becomes clear that Swinub isn't getting back up: Izzy reluctantly uses a Revive and a Super Potion on it as Mitch punches the air in celebration. "  Well, you beat us, guess you get the hot spring first, but I wouldn't mind another battle some day," she says while helping Swinub get back up. " I would love that! Now time for some relaxation,"  he replies before going back to searching his backpack for his trunks. Eventually, Mitch comes to an embarrassing revelation. " I didn't bring my trunks with me when I left Kanto," he says as all of his Pokémon sweat drop and let out cries of embarrassment. " Well, guess that means we get the hot spring first," Izzy says with a chuckle.
