Big Changes in Ilex Forest

            Mitch and Cyndaquil are nearing the center of Ilex Forest and are about to stop for a rest when they hear a voice from around the corner. " Alright, now show me a Metal Claw!" The two of them peek around the corner just in time to see a red insectoid Pokémon slam a metal coated pincer into a rock, destroying it on impact. " Scizzzzzzzzzzzz," it cries as its trainer, a boy around Mitch's age with short brown hair, a purple sweatshirt, blue jean pants, and brown sneakers, looks on with pride. The boy notices Mitch and says, " Oh, hi. I'm Ezekiel Reilly from Mahogany Town and this is my newly evolved Scizor. We were just testing out some of Scizor's new moves and new strength." " Scizor," Mitch says as he takes his Pokedex from his backpack and scans the mysterious Pokémon on it.

           " Scizor, the Pincer Pokémon, a Bug and Steel-type, the evolved form of Scyther, this Pokémon's pincers, which contain steel, can crush any hard object it gets a hold of into bits."  " Okay then, I'm Mitch Harper from Pallet Town in the Kanto Region and this is Cyndaquil. If you really want to test Scizor a battle would be the best way to do that. You up for one," Mitch says as Cyndaquil grins and enthusiastically ignites its back flame. Ezekiel glances at Scizor as it nods a " Sciz," and gets into a battle stance. " Alright, we accept your challenge! Scizor, use Metal Claw," Ezekiel commands (at this point, something inside the forest begins watching the battle) as Scizor's right pincer becomes coated in iron and it jumps at Cyndaquil. " Use Defense Curl and then Swift," Mitch hollers as Cyndaquil curls into a ball and takes no damage from the Metal Claw when it hits. " Cyndaaaaaaa," it shouts as it uncurls and fires a bunch of yellow energy stars from its mouth. The stars hit Scizor in the chest and explode, but Scizor is barely affected as Ezekiel shouts a command. " Use your Night Slash attack,' he orders as Scizor's left pincer glows black and it jumps at Cyndaquil. " Cyndaaaaaaaaa," it cries as Scizor slashes it across the face, knocking it to the ground. It manages to get to its feet as Scizor lands back on the ground. " Cyndaquil, use Flame Wheel," Mitch orders as Cyndaquil rolls into a ball of fire and heads toward Scizor.

          " Dodge it and use Metal Claw," Ezekiel shouts as Scizor jumps over the Flame Wheel, causing Cyndaquil to miss. Scizor lands behind Cyndaquil and strikes it in the back with its metal coated pincer. " Quilllllllll," it shouts as it stumbles forwards and briefly falls down on its belly. " Use Quick Attack," Mitch orders as Cyndaquil turns around and runs very fast toward Scizor with a white energy trailing behind it. Once again, Scizor is barely affected by the attack when it hits and Ezekiel shouts another command, " use Iron Head!" " Zorrrrrrrrr," it mumbles as it slams its metal coated head into Cyndaquil, knocking it back. Cyndaquil lands on the ground but manages to get back up in time to dodge another Night Slash. " Use Ember," Mitch cries as " Cyndaaaaaaaaa," it shoots the fire balls out of its mouth, hitting Scizor in the face with them. " Scizzzzzzororrrrr," it cries in pain as in rubs its face and falls to one knee. " Now use Flame Wheel," Mitch orders as Cyndaquil rolls back into a ball of fire. " Scizor, Iron Defense and then Night Slash," Ezekiel exclaims as Scizor's body becomes coated in a knight-like armor, causing Cyndaquil's attack to do no damage when it hits. " Cyndaa," it questionably says as the armor leaves Scizor's body and it slashes Cyndaquil across the chest with Night Slash. "Cyndaaaaaa," it cries as the attack sends it skidding across the ground.

           A badly injured Cyndaquil lands at Mitch's feet and struggles to get back up, its back flame begins to slowly die down. Mitch is about to call the battle off but is stopped by something: a blinding white light. Eventually, the light fades and a new Pokémon stands where Mitch's Cyndaquil once was. " Quillllllllaaaaaaavaaaaaaaaa," it exclaims as it ignites two flames, one on its head and one near the end of its back, while a stunned Mitch reaches for his Pokedex . " Quilava, the Volcano Pokémon, a Fire-type, the evolved form of Cyndaquil, it intimidates foes with intense gusts of flames and superheated air. Its quick nimbleness lets it dodge attacks even while scorching an enemy."   " Okay, first Johto evolution. Quilava, use Ember," Mitch says, but is stopped by Quilava turning to him and shaking its head. " Lava, Lava, Quil," it says while pointing at the Pokedex. Mitch is confused at first, but quickly realizes, " Oh okay, let's see. Oh, you learned a new move!  Well, let's try it out! Attack with Lava Plume!" " Quilaaaaaavaaaaaaaa," it cries as it rears up and its front legs glow crimson red before it slams them on the ground causing a large lava geyser to shoot up from underneath Scizor.  " Scizoooooooooooor," it screams as the attack sends up upwards.

         Scizor lands on the ground in front of Ezekiel with spirals in its eyes as he bends down to check on it. " Lavaaa," a satisfied Quilava grunts as it turns off its flames and turns around just in time for Mitch to give it a big hug. It returns the hug as Mitch happily says, " really thought that we had lost that battle. I wasn't expecting it, but I'm glad you evolved." Ezekiel returns Scizor to its Poke Ball before walking up to Mitch and giving him a friendly handshake. " Thanks for the battle, but I got to get Scizor to a Pokémon Center. We're planning to take on the Azalea Town Gym and I want Scizor to be in good health for that fight." " No problem. Good luck in your battle and just a heads up: it's a Bug-type gym," Mitch says as Ezekiel nods and walks off. Mitch turns to Quilava and says, " well, what are we waiting for? Whitney is probably waiting for us at the Goldenrod Gym, we got to get going." However, before they can go, something flies out of the forest and hovers before them. " Bi, Bi, Celebi, Bi," it happily cries as a surprised and slightly confused Mitch scans it on the Pokedex.  " Celebi, the Time Travel Pokémon, a Psychic and Grass-type, this Mythical Pokémon wanders across time. Grass and trees flourish in the forests in which it has appeared."  " Bi, Bi," it happily cries as it gives Mitch and Quilava congratulatory pats on the head before opening a time portal and going through it. The time portal closes leaving Mitch and Quilava standing there with blank expressions on their faces.
