Birth on the Ice Path

    At a Pokémon Center right outside the Ice Path, Mitch sits down in front of one of the video phones, types in a phone number, and waits for the person on the other end to answer. " Route 34 Day Care Center, how can we help you? Oh, Mitch! It's so good to see you," Ethlyn, her Cleffa is standing on a tall stool next to her, answers. " I'm great! Thanks for asking! The Nurse Joy at this Pokémon Center told me that you and Hartlee have been calling Pokémon Centers all over this area trying to see if they know where I am. Does this have anything to do with the Egg I sent you?" " As a matter of fact it does, it's close to hatching and from the looks of it, that will almost definitely happen today," she says while holding up the Egg for him to see, it flashes white every few seconds. " Alright than, let me send one of the Pokémon I have on me to Professor Oak and then I'll have you send that Egg over," he says as she smiles and nods in understanding.

  Mitch and his party ( Typhlosion, Quagsire, Forretress, Sudowoodo, Nidorino) stand in a circle a few feet away from the entrance to the Ice Path and watch the Egg rapidly flash white. After a few minutes pass, the flashing stops and the Egg glows in a blinding white light. The light quickly fades away and a Pokémon that Mitch has never seen before sits where the egg once was. The newly hatched Pokémon lets out a loud yawn," Gliiiiiiiiiiiiiggg," as Mitch pulls out his Pokédex. " Gligar, the Fly Scorpion Pokémon, a Ground and Flying-type, it glides without making a single sound. It grasps the face of its foe using its hind and large front claws, then stabs with its poison barb." " Welcome to the world and to the team little one," Mitch says in a kindly tone as he puts his Pokédex away and gently rubs Gligar on the head. Gligar opens its eyes and looks around at everyone before getting a playful look on its its face. " Gli, Gli, Gar, Gar," it shouts as it jumps to its feet and uses one of its claws to wave at everyone. 

  " Okay, now to actually catch it," MItch says whilst grabbing an empty Poké Ball from his backpack. However, Glligar sees the ball as a toy and playfully bats it away with its tail. ( it doesn't hit the button on it, so it doesn't get sucked inside) The ball shatters against a nearby rock as Gligar happily giggles " Gggggggliiii," and goes into the air. " Gaaaaaaaar," it cries as it starts to fire off multiple purple energy needles from the stinger at the end of its tail. The Poison Sting almost hits Mitch, but Forretress jumps in front of him and takes the hit for him, taking no damage from the Poison-type attack because of its Steel-typing. " Can any of you get it out of the air for me," Mitch asks as his Pokémon all fire different attacks at Gligar. Typhlosion uses Flamethrower, Forretress uses Flash Cannon, Quagsire uses Water Gun, and Sudowoodo uses Rock Throw. " Gar, Gar, Gar, Gar," it happily shouts as it avoids all the moves and then flies inside the Ice Path. " CRAP! A Ground and Flying-type going into one of the coldest places in the Johto Region! We got to get in there before something extremely bad happens," he exclaims in a panicked tone before he recalls all of his Pokémon except Typhlosion. " We better hurry," he shouts as both of them run into the Ice Path.

  " Gliiiiiii, Gggggggaaarrrrrr, Gggggggliiiii," Gligar mumbles with chattering teeth whilst it lies against an ice rock and shivers. " Gligar, are you okay," Mitch shouts as he runs up to it and grabs it in his arms. " Ggggggggaaarrrr," it grumbles as Mitch takes out another Poké Ball and prepares to put Gligar in it. However, Mitch is halted by Typhlosion growling at a nearby boulder. " Tyyyyyyyyyyyy," it growls before igniting its neck flame. " What's wrong," Mitch says as a large Sneasel emerges from behind the rock. " Seeeeeeeeel," it screeches before a big ball of black energy forms between its hands and it throws the ball at Typhlosion. " Look out! Destroy that Shadow Ball with Shadow Claw then use Flamethrower," Mitch hollers as Gligar curiously watches what Typhlosion does. " Looooosioon," it cries as its right paw becomes engulfed in a shadowy aura and it uses that paw to swipe the Shadow Ball aside. " Gliii," Gligar whispers with an intrigued look on its face as Typhlosion releases a medium sized stream of fire from its mouth. 

  " Snnnnneeeee," Sneasel cackles whilst jumping over the Flamethrower and coating its right claw in silver metal. However, before Sneasel's Metal Claw has time to contact with Typhlosion, Gligar quickly jumps forwards and uses its right claw to throw some sand up into Sneasel's eyes. " Seeeeellll," it cries as the Sand Attack knocks it off course and causes it to slam its attack into the ground in front of Typhlosion. Typhlosion smirks at Sneasel before releasing another Flamethrower. " Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellll," Sneasel screams as the attack slams into it and knocks it far back into the cave, out of sight. " Tyy," Typhlosion victoriously grunts before scooping Gligar up in its arms and making its way over to Mitch. 

  " You know, Typhlosion really didn't need your help there," Mitch says whilst patting Gligar on the head. " Gliiiiiiii," it happily says with a grin. " Now I'm going to do what I should have done the second you hatched," he says as he takes Gligar's tail and uses it to click the open button on the Poké Ball in his hand. " Gaaarr," It says as it is sucked inside the ball. The Capture noise immediately goes off and Mitch places the ball in one of his pockets. " Might want to keep your flame lit, because we have to go through this cave if we want to get to Blackthorn City and we'll need all the warmth we can get," he explains as Typhlosion nods in understanding.
