Clash of Cousins

   " So, she's not here," Mitch asks a person standing in front of the Blackthorn City Gym. " No, Clair's Cousin Lance is here visiting. He likes to come here to see how much stronger Clair has gotten when he has a break in between his duties of being the Johto Champion and a Kanto Elite Four Member and test that strength in a battle. Their battle should be starting any minute now, it's supposed to take place outside the Dragon's Den," the person says as she points east of the gym. " Clair won't be available for a gym battle until tomorrow, so if you want to pass the time you could go and watch the battle," she says before going back inside the gym. " I guess we could do that," he groans as he and Typhlosion walk in the direction of the Dragon's Den. " You know Typhlosion I actually battled Lance when I was in Kanto." " Tyyyyy," it says with an intrigued look on its face. " Yeah, he beat me in one move," he says as Typhlosion's face changes from a look of intrigue to a look of second hand embarrassment. " Siooooonnn," it grunts in disappointment.

    " Dragonite, let's see how much better they've gotten," Lance shouts just as Mitch and Typhlosion arrive at the small lake, where a large crowd has gathered, outside the Dragon's Den. " Draaaaaaagooooooo," Lance's Dragonite roars as it comes out of its Poké Ball and hovers above the lake. " Kingdra, show them how much we've grown," Clair exclaims whilst throwing a Poké Ball at the lake. " Kiiiiiingdraaa," it hollers whilst landing in the lake with a loud and large splash. " Never seen that Pokémon before," Mitch whispers while getting his Pokédex out of his backpack. " Kingdra, the Dragon Pokémon, a Water and Dragon-type, the evolved form of Seadra and the final evolved form of Horsea, Kingdra lives at extreme ocean depths that are otherwise uninhabited. It has long been believed that the yawning of this Pokémon creates spiraling ocean currents."

  " I believe that this time is our turn to strike first! Use Aerial Ace," Lance yells as several streaks of white energy surround Dragonite's body. " Draaaaaaaaaagggg," it roars as it quickly descends and slams into Kingdra at a high speed. " Draaaa," it groans as the attack briefly unbalances it. " Kingdra, stay strong and use Dragon Pulse," Clair shouts as it regains its balance and fires a large ball of purple energy from its snout. " Swat it away with Aqua Tail," Lance says in a unimpressed tone. " Niiittte," it mumbles as it coats in tail in water and uses it to swat the Dragon Pulse into the side of the lake. " Now use Brick Break," he grumbles whilst Dragonite's right arm glows white and it twists it into an odd angle. " Kiiiiiiinggg," Kingdra whines as Dragonite slams the attack over its head. " If this is all you can do, I might as well call this battle off know," Lance says as both Clair and Kingdra get agitated looks on their faces. " Double Team and Agility," she shouts as KIngdra creates a bunch of clones of itself. " Draaaaaaa," they all cry as they begin to move too fast for everyone to see.  

  " Real Kingdra use Ice Beam," Clair shouts as one of the Kingdra, whilst still moving at high speed, fires a medium sized beam of ice at Dragonite. " Draaaaaggg," it grunts as the attack hits it in the left side. " Now use Hydro Pump," she yells before a large stream of water is fired at Dragonite. " Nitttte," it says as this attack strikes it on the back, almost knocking it out of the air. " Enough! Stop this with Hurricane," Lance commands as Dragonite flies up high and uses its wings to blow an extremely powerful cloud of wind at the lake. " Draaaaaaaaaaa," it shouts as the winds slam into it and its clones, who are destroyed, and knock it against the bank. " That trick might be able to bring down your gym challengers, but it doesn't even faze us! Use Thunder Punch," Lance exclaims as Dragonite's right fist becomes engulfed in electricity. However, right when Dragonite is about to punch Kingdra, Clair shouts for it to, " Use Dive!" KIngdra's body becomes outlined in a dark blue aura and it quickly disappears beneath the surface of the lake. 

  " Just wait Dragonite," Lance says as Dragonite hovers around the area where Kingdra disappeared from. " Draaaaaaaaa," Kingdra yells as it emerges from the lake and slams its head against Dragonite's right side. However, Dragonite quickly recovers from the move and, using its still going Thunder Punch, punches Kingdra square in the face. " Draaaaaaaaaaaa," it cries as the attack knocks it into the air. " Grab it and use Dragon Claw," Lance yells as Dragonite grabs Kingdra with one of its arms whilst the claws on its other arm start to glow purple. " Quick, use Flash Cannon," she yells before Kingdra fires a beam of silver energy from its snout. " Dragggg," it cries as the attack explodes on its face and forces it to let go of Kingdra. " Now use Dragon Pulse," she yells as Kingdra lands back in the water. " Draaaaaa," it exclaims as it fires the purple energy ball at Dragonite, who has just finished rubbing the area of its face that was hit by Flash Cannon. " Draaaaaaaggg," it cries as the attack explodes on its chest and knocks it against the lake bank, its body half in and half out of the water. " Now use Hydro Pump," she yells whilst Kingdra fires the large water stream from its snout. 

   " Niiiiiiiittte," Dragonite cries as the attack pushes it against the lake bank. Eventually, the attack stops and Dragonite manages to fly back into the air. " Great work, but still not enough! Dragonite, complete that Dragon Claw," Lance exclaims. " Draaaaag," Dragonite roars as it flies down and slashes Kingdra across the chest with its claws, which were still glowing purple the entire time Kingdra was attacking it. " Draaaaaaaaaa," it cries as the pain surges through its body and almost causes it to fall face first into the water. " We can do use Kingdra! Use Draco Meteor," Clair screams as Lance and Dragonite get intrigued looks on their faces. Kingdra points its snout towards the sky and " Kiiiiiiiiiiinnnnngggggdraaaaaaaa," fires a large ball of bright orange energy into the air. The ball explodes mid-air and sends multiple much smaller balls of orange energy towards Dragonite. " So you finally learned it," Lance says with a proud look on his face as the energy balls near Dragonite. 

    " Avoid with Agility and then use Dragon Rush," Lance orders as Dragonite moves at a lightning speed and dodges the Draco Meteor. " Draaaaaaagggggg," it roars whilst light blue energy that forms the outline of a dragon surrounds its body. " Draaaaaaaaaaaa," Kingdra cries as Dragonite slams into it and knocks it across the lake. It lands a few feet in front of Clair with a loud splash. " Kiiiingg," it groans as it floats with spirals in its eyes. Clair falls to her knees in defeat and recalls Kingdra to its Poké Ball. Lance returns Dragonite, walks over to where Clair is, helps her to her feet, and begins to have a private conversation with her. " What are the odds that we have to fight that Kingdra in tomorrow's gym battle," a nervous looking Mitch says to Typhlosion.
