Excitement at the Bug Catching Contest!

            Mitch patiently waits at a counter as Quilava scratches itself at his feet. Eventually, a man comes up to the counter with a bag full of Sport Balls. " Alright, Mr. Harper you are officially registered for today's Bug Catching Contest, here are your Sport Balls, if you use up all 20 of them you will be eliminated from the contest. If you catch a Bug-type Pokémon, you can either return to the front gate or continue searching the National Park for more Bug-type Pokémon. However, if you do end up catching something else, you must release the first one that you caught. Once every competitor has returned to the front gate, the contest will end and we will use our Pokedex to determine who caught the strongest Bug-type Pokémon. The winner will retrieve an Evolutionary Stone of their choice. Do you understand?"  " Yeah, I get it," Mitch says with a smile as he takes the bag of Sport Balls. 

          " One more thing. You're only allowed to use one of your Pokémon during the contest, the rest must stay in their balls or you will be eliminated. You will also be eliminated if your Pokémon is defeated. Which of your Pokémon will you be using? Mitch looks down at Quilava and is about to select it for use in the contest when a Poke Ball on his belt begins to shake and the Pokémon inside lets itself out. " Hoot, Hoothoot, Hoot, Hoot, Hoothoot, Hoot," Hoothoot desperately pleads while flying around Mitch's head. " Okay, okay, I'll use you," Mitch chuckles as he recalls Quilava to its Poke Ball. " I'll be using Hoothoot," Mitch says as the man types that into his computer and Hoothoot lands on Mitch's shoulder.

               Mitch, with Hoothoot still on his shoulder, makes his way through a large meadow as he scans the area for Bug-type Pokémon. " Hoot, Hoot, Hoothoot," Hoothoot screeches whilst using one of its wings to point at something in the air. Mitch looks up, while grabbing a Sport Ball from his bag, at what Hoothoot is pointing at and sees a Ledyba flying through the sky. " Ledyba, the Five Star Pokémon, a Bug and Flying-type, Ledyba communicate using a fluid that they secrete from where the legs join the body. They are said to convey feelings to others by altering the fluid's scent." " I'll don't think that will be enough to let us win the contest. Let's look for something else," Mitch says as he puts the Sport Ball he was holding back in his bag and walks away as another Trainer has their Sunflora attack the Ledyba with Razor Leaf.

                " Owwwww," Mitch cries out as he trips over what appears to be a red rock with a bunch of holes in it. " Hoothoot, Hoot" Hoothoot worryingly says as Mitch pats it on the head to assure it that he's okay. " Shuck, Shuck, Shuckle," something mumbles from behind them. Mitch turns around to see that it wasn't a rock he tripped over: it was a Pokémon that was resting in its shell. " Shuckle, the Mold Pokémon, a Bug and Rock-type, it stores berries in its shell. The berries eventually ferment to become delicious juices." " This thing looks worth it! Hoothoot, attack with Aerial Ace," Mitch yells as Hoothoot, with white energy streaks surrounding its body, flies very fast towards Shuckle. " Shuck, Shuck, Shuckle, Shuck," it shouts in a panicked tone before pulling its body back into its shell. Hoothoot's attack harmlessly bounces off of Shuckle's Withdraw as Shuckle comes back out of its shell, summons a bunch of rocks out of thin air, and sends them at Hoothoot. " Hoooooooooot," it screeches in pain as the Rock Throw rocks slam into it and briefly knock it to the ground. Hoothoot manages to get back into the air as Mitch yells a command, " Use Air Slash!" " Hoooooooooot," it shouts as it uses its wings to send a long and sharp wave of wind towards Shuckle. " Shuuuuuuuuck," it cries as the attack hits it, explodes, and knocks it over on its back. " Go, Sport Ball," Mitch hollers whilst throwing ball at Shuckle. 

           The ball hits Shuckle on the chest and sucks it inside, but it breaks out almost immediately. " Shuck, Shuck, Shuckle, Shuck," it shouts in an annoyed tone before using Dig to escape. " Dang it," Mitch shouts in an annoyed tone as Hoothoot hovers in front of him with a disappointing look on its face. Suddenly, " Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiid," a badly damaged Elekid shouts as it lands next to them to them, with spirals appearing in its eyes a few seconds after impact. " Elekid, are you okay," its trainer, who is now eliminated from the contest due to it being knocked out, shouts as she bends down to check on it. " What's going on," " A wild Scizor has appeared in the park and it's going around challenging trainers to fights. I'm the 6th trainer that's been defeated by it meaning there's only 4 competitors left counting you!" " Slaaaaash," a knocked out Sandslash cries as it lands a few feet from them. " Make that 3 trainers left," Mitch says before Hoothoot cries out, " Hoooooooooot,": the Scizor appeared while they were distracted and has slammed a Bullet Punch into Hoothoot.  

       " Sciz, Sciz, Scizor," it shouts as it lands in a battle stance in front of Mitch and Hoothoot. " Are you still good to go Hoothoot," Mitch asks as Hoothoot slowly flies back into the air and responds with, " Hoot, Hoot." " Alright, use Air Slash," Mitch commands as Hoothoot uses its wings to send the long and sharp wave of wind towards Scizor. " Zooooooor," it cries as it allows the attack to slam into it and knock it back a few feet. " Zooor," it cries as it jumps forward and slams its silver, metal coated claw into Hoothoot. " Hoooooot," it screeches as the Metal Claw almost knocks it to the ground, but it quickly recovers in time for Mitch to holler out a command, " Use Aerial Ace!"  " Hoooooooooot," it yells as it flies very fast, with white energy streaks surrounding its body, towards Scizor and slams into it at top speed. Scizor stumbles backwards a few feet and doesn't move when it stops stumbling, something that Mitch takes advantage of. " Use Confusion while its still feeling the effects of that Aerial Ace!" " Hooooooooo," it screeches as its eyes glow bright pink, causing a pink aura to surround Scizor's body and put a lot of pressure on it. " Zooor," it mumbles as its legs begin to weaken and it almost falls to the ground. " Wrap this up with one more Air Slash," Mitch orders as the Confusion stops and Hoothoot once again sends a long and sharp wave of wind at Scizor.

         The Air Slash slams into Scizor and knocks it to its knees. " Sport Ball, Go," Mitch hollers as he throws the ball at it. It bonks Scizor on the head and sucks it inside before beginning to shake. At first, Scizor appears to have been caught, until the Sport Ball bursts open. " Zoooooooor," Scizor roars as it rushes forward and lands a Critical Hit Bullet Punch on Hoothoot.  " Hooooooooooooooot," it cries as it lands on the ground with a loud thud and struggles to get back up. Scizor is about to finish Hoothoot off with Metal Claw, when it is stopped by Hoothoot's body glowing in a blinding white light. Eventually, the light fades and, " Nooooooooctoooooooooowl," Mitch's newly evolved Noctowl flies high into the sky. " Noooooooooc," it screeches as its body becomes surrounded by a bright golden aura before it flies down at top speed and slams into a bewildered Scizor. " You evolved and learned Sky Attack! That's awesome," Mitch yells as his newly evolved Pokémon hovers in front of him. Scizor was knocked to the ground by the attack, but it manages to get to its feet and charge at Noctowl with Metal Claw.  " Use Reflect and then Sky Attack," Mitch commands as Noctowl's eyes glow pink for a few seconds and a clear glass-like square appears in front of it.  " Zoooooooor," it cries as the Reflect causes it to hit itself with its own Metal Claw, knocking it to one knee as it clutches its arm in pain.

            " Noooooooooooc," Noctowl screeches as it flies high into the air with its body once gain becoming surrounding by a bright golden aura. It flies down at full speed and slams into Scizor, hitting it directly on the head. " Scizzzz.....Or," it mumbles as it falls on its back with spirals in its eyes. " Let's try this on more time. Go, Sport Ball," Mitch cries as he throws the ball and his victorious Noctowl lands next to him.( This thing is over five feet tall. There's no way it can sit on an Eleven Year old's shoulder) The ball hits Scizor on the chest and sucks it inside. It takes about five minutes, but the capture noise goes off and Mitch uses the P.C button on his Pokedex to send his Chikorita to Professor Oak's lab, so that Scizor can remain on his team. " Surely something like this means that we win today's contest," Mitch says as Noctowl nods in agreement.

         " And the winners of today's Bug Catching Contest are.......... Duncan, his Sunflora, and his newly caught Pinsir," the person in charge of the Bug Catching Contest shouts as Mitch, Noctowl, and Scizor stare in shock upon seeing that Duncan managed to catch a Shiny Pinsir. " Why couldn't you have been Shiny and had an attack stat just two numbers higher ," Mitch says as he and Noctowl stare at Scizor, causing it to nervously rub the back of its head.
