Night of the Misdreavus

         A view of a night sky is shown before it pans down to a clearing in a small forest. " Use Overheat," Mitch commands as Quilava's body begins to glow bright red. " Laaaaaaaaaavaaaaaa," it screams as it tries to use the attack, but all that comes out is a very tiny stream of fire that disappears in a couple of seconds. " Quillllll," it angrily grunts whilst stomping the ground in frustration. " Hey, calm down! You're getting there and you'll be able to actually use it soon. Let's get some rest for the night," Mitch says as he walk over to where the rest of his party ( Phanpy, Aipom, Spinarak, Heracross, Spearow) are resting.  " Laaavaa," it reluctantly huffs before walking over to them, unaware that a smirking figure is watching it from the darkness of the forest.

           A few hours have passed and while everyone else has fallen asleep, a frustrated Quilava hasn't. It stands up and slowly walks back over to where it and Mitch were before. " Laaaavaaa," it whispers as it once again tries, and fails, to use Overheat. " Quilll," it mumbles in annoyance before trying to use the attack again, failing once again. " Laaaav," it angrily growls before attempting to use the attack for a third time, it fails again. 

             " Misssss, Missssss. Vuuuusss," a wild Misdreavus, the figure from before, laughs as it floats out of the forest and hovers over Quilava. " Vusssssssssssssssssss," it laughs in a mocking tone as Quilava growls at it in anger and annoyance. " What's going on," Mitch says as he wakes up and watches Quilava fail to use Overheat on the mocking Misdreavus. "Miiiiiiiissssss," it laughs in response to the failed attack, clearly getting on Quilava's last nerve. " Laaaaaavaaaa," it cries as it shoots multiple small ball of fire from its mouth. The Ember hits a unprepared, and still laughing, Misdreavus in the face and explodes, almost knocking it out of the sky. 

         Mitch gets to his feet, his other Pokémon just lay there and watch, and runs over to Quilava, stopping behind it. Misdreavus floats in place before a few seconds before getting an angry look look on its face. " Vuuuuuuus," it screams before firing a beam of pink energy out of each of its eyes. " Looks like you made it mad. Dodge that and use Flame Wheel," Mitch says as Quilava jumps over the Psybeam, curls into a ball of fire, and slams into Misdreavus. " Missssss," it cries as Quilava lands on the ground beneath it. " Dreaaaaaavusssss," it shouts while shooting a large ball made of black energy from its mouth. " Laaaaaaaavaaaa," it hollers as the Shadow Ball explodes on its back and briefly knocks it to the ground. " Vussssssssss," it exclaims whilst firing multiple stars made of yellow energy from its mouth. " Counter its Swift with your Swift," he orders as Quilava fires the energy stars from its mouth. 

          The two Swift attacks collide and explode, knocking both Pokémon back.  Quilava manages to land on its feet, but Misdreavus hits the ground with a loud thud and doesn't get back up. " Okay, Poké Ball, go, I guess," Mitch says while throwing an empty ball at the seemingly defeated Ghost-type. The ball hits Misdreavus on the head, sucks it inside, and starts to shake, but after two shakes, it breaks out and quickly floats back into the air. " Vusssssssss," it shouts while shooting another Psybeam from its eyes. " Laaaaaaaaaavaaa," it hollers as the attack knocks it backwards. It lands on its right side, but quickly jumps to its feet and manages to dodge an incoming Shadow Ball. " Fight back with Lava Plume," Mitch commands as Quilava rears up on its back legs with its front legs glowing crimson red. " Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavaaaaaaaaaa," it screams as it slams its front legs on the ground, causing a geyser of fire to erupt from beneath Misdreavus. 

            " Vuuuuuuuuussssss," Misdreavus screams as the powerful Fire-type move hits it and almost knocks it out of the air. "Vus, Vus, Mis, Vus, Vus," it pants as it struggles to stay in the air. " End this with Flame Wheel," Mitch orders as Quilava rolls into a ball of fire and slams into Misdreavus at high speed, knocking it out of the sky and causing it to land in the dirt with a loud thud. " Vuuuss," it whimpers as spirals appear in its eyes. " Let's try this again," Mitch says while throwing another empty Poké Ball at Misdreavus. Once again, the ball hits Misdreavus on the head and sucks it inside. However, this time the capture noise goes off almost instantly, allowing Mitch to send it to Professor Oak's lab using the P.C. button on his Pokédex. " Great Job, Quilava! You may not have learned Overheat yet, but you still have other strong Fire moves, so you shouldn't have to worry about learning it for now," Mitch says as he pants Quilava on the head, unaware of the disappointed look on its face. " Come on, back to bed," he says as he walks back to where he was sleeping. " Laavaaa," a melancholy Quilava mumbles before following its trainer.
