Mitch's Johto Journey

Totodile's Shocking Experience

        Mitch places a canteen into a small stream and fills it up with water before putting in back in his backpack and walking back to what was once his campsite. " Alright, time to get back on the road," he says as he begins to return his Pokémon to their balls. He manages to recall Noctowl, Scizor, Heracross, and Phanpy before being interrupted by a voice. " Wait a minute, it that a Totodile," a black haired, with a light blue streak down the center of his head, boy wearing a light blue shirt, green shorts, and blue shoes shouts as he runs up to Mitch, Quilava, and Totodile.

          " My name is Atto and I've been going around and challenging trainers that have Water-type Pokémon to battles and I've won every single one of them because my Water-type is unbeatable in battles against its own type." Upon hearing the word " unbeatable," Totodile, who was previously lying on the ground, jumps to its feet. " Toto, Toto, Dile, Totodile," it shouts as it gets into a battle stance. " You seem a little overconfident, but we'll take you on," Mitch says. " Alright, Chinchou, I choose you," Atto hollers whilst throwing a Lure Ball into the air. " Chin, Chin, Chou, Chin," it cries as it lands in front of Totodile and prepares itself for a fight. " Chinchou, the Angler Pokémon, a Water and Electric-type, when it senses danger, it discharges positive and negative electricity from its two antennae. It lives in depths beyond sunlight's reach." 

       " So, it's also an Electric-type with a type advantage against other Water-types? That's how he's been winning all his other battles," Mitch thinks to himself " It's got Super Effective moves so be on your guard," he hollers as Totodile nods in understanding.  " Chinchou, use Electro Ball," Atto commands as Chinchou creates a ball of electricity between its antennae and throws it at Totodile. " Avoid it and use Headbutt," Mitch orders as Totodile jumps over the Super Effective move and slams its head against Chinchou's face. " Chooooooooooou," it cries as it stumbles back a few feet and quickly shakes away the pain. " Use Shock Wave," Atto orders as Chinchou slams both of its antennae down on the ground very hard, sending a wave made of electricity towards Totodile. " Totooooooooo," it screams as the unavoidable and Super Effective move slams into its body and electrocutes it. " Don't give in, use Scratch and then Bite," Mitch commands as a slightly hurt Totodile jumps forward, with the claws on its right hand glowing white, and slices Chinchou across the face. " Chiiiiiin," it mumbles before Totodile bites down on its left antennae very hard. 

           " Chouuuuuuuuuuuuuu," Chinchou screams as the pain surges through its body. " Turn Bite into Ice Fang," Mitch commands as Totodile lets go of Chinchou for a few seconds, coats its teeth in ice, and then bites back down. " Chouuu, Chouuu, Chinchou, Chinnn," it cries as it desperately tries to free itself from Totodile's grip. " Chinchou, use Spark," Atto orders as Chinchou's body becomes outlined in electricity, forcing Totodile to get go. " Chiiiiiinnnn," it cries as it slams its electricity outlined body into Totodile, knocking it back. " Totooooooo," it cries as it lands on its back a few feet in front of Mitch and barely manages to get back to its feet. " Use Water Gun," Mitch shouts as Totodile fires the medium sized stream of water out of its mouth. " Counter that with Ice Beam," Atto exclaims as Chinchou fires a medium sized beam of ice from its mouth. At first, the two moves collide and appear to be evenly matched, until the ice from the Ice Beam causes the water from the Water Gun to freeze over and fall to the ground, shattering upon impact. " Whaaat," " Totoooo," both Mitch and Totodile shout in shocked tones. " Let's wrap this up with one final attack! Chinchou, use Thunder," Atto screams.

               " Chiiiiiiiiiinchouuuuuuuuuuuuuu," Chinchou loudly shouts as large bolt of lightning shoots down from the sky and is absorbed into the small space between Chinchou's antennae before being fire from that space. Mitch and Totodile stare at the incoming attack with terrified looks on their faces before a familiar idea pops into Mitch's mind. " Use Water Gun towards the ground," he orders as Totodile shoots the medium sized water stream at the soil beneath, the force of which propels it high into the air, causing Chinchou's extremely powerful and Super Effective attack to miss. Atto and Chinchou angrily grit their teeth as Totodile safely lands back on the ground. " Use Headbutt," Mitch hollers as Totodile rushes forward and slams its head into Chinchou's body, knocking it back. " Chooouu," it mumbles in an annoyed tone before Atto gives it a command, " use Hydro Pump!" " Chouuuuuuu," it shouts while firing a very large stream of water from its mouth. Totodile is unable to avoid the attack and is knocked back, causing it to fall into the nearby river and vanish beneath the surface.

          Everyone patiently waits for Totodile to resurface and when it doesn't, a seemingly victorious Atto prepares to recall Chinchou to its Lure Ball, but is stopped by a blinding white light coming from the river. After about a minute, the glowing stops and something jumps out of the river and lands in front of Chinchou. " Crocoooooooonaaaaaaaaaaaw," Mitch's newly evolved Croconaw cries as the claws on its right hand begin to extend whilst glowing purple. " Wow, you evolved and from the looks of it, you've learned a new move and I think I now what it is: use Dragon Claw," Mitch screams as Croconaw gives Chinchou a powerful slash to the face using its glowing purple claws. " Choooooooooooooou," it whines as it stumbles backwards and almost falls over. " Don't give up yet Chinchou, use Electro Ball," Atto says as Chinchou forms the ball of electricity between its antennae and throws it at Croconaw. " Destroy that with Dragon Claw and then use Water Gun," Mitch orders as Croconaw slices through the electric ball with its glowing purple claws, destroying it on impact. " Naaaaaaaw," it cries as it fires the medium sized stream of water from its mouth. " Chiiiiiiiiin," Chinchou cries as the Water Gun hits it head on and sends it flying backwards. It slams into a nearby tree with a loud thud and lands on the ground with spirals in its eyes. 

             " Great job, Croconaw," " Lava, Quilava," Mitch and Quilava happily shout as they run up to Croconaw and give it a congratulatory hug. " Naw, Croc," it mumbles before lying down on the ground and closing its eyes. " I guess somethings never change," Mitch says while shaking his head and recalling Croconaw to its Poke Ball.  Atto, who has recalled his defeated Chinchou, walks up to Mitch and gives him a friendly handshake. " You were right about me being overconfident, I guess I'll have to get better if I want to start collecting Gym Badges, " " Well, as somebody that is already collecting Gym Badges, I can tell that you're probably skilled enough to start collecting them, but you can't get too overconfident because that might backfire on you.  However, to do really hope that I see you at the Johto League," Mitch says as him and Atto eagerly grin at each other.
