Mitch's Johto Journey

Outgrowing Pains

    "Now Pupitar! Jump out of the way and use Stone Edge", Mitch commands as Pupitar jumps into the air and avoids the incoming Jump Kick that the Stantler it's fighting is using. " Staaaaaant," it yells whilst taking the miss damage from Jump Kick as Pupitar summons multiple grey, rectangular rocks with sharp tips. " Taaaaarr," it grunts as it sends the rocks toward Stantler and they explode on the side of its head. " Leeeeeeeeeeer," it screams in pain before falling over on its side with spirals in its eyes. " Stantler, are you okay," its trainer shouts as she rushes over to check on it whilst Pupitar lands back on the ground. " Great job," Mitch says as he pats Pupitar on the head. Mitch looks up at the Stantler trainer, who has recalled Stantler, and gives her a respectful nod before she walks off.  He then turns to his party ( Typhlosion, Pupitar, Spinarak, Aipom, Wooper, Spearow) and says " You guys want to take a break here so we can rest and eat?" " Tyyyy," " Taaar," " Spinaaa," " Poom," " Wooooop," " Spearrr," they all shout in agreement.

    A few hours have passed and the group is currently doing different things. Mitch is looking through the Johto Guidebook, Typhlosion and Pupitar are taking naps, Spearow is pecking at what's left of the food it ate, and Spinarak, Aipom, and Wooper are chasing each other through the grassy field they're in. " Pooom," Aipom happily cries as it climbs up a tree with Spinarak quickly following behind it. They disappear in the thick foliage of the tree as Wooper stops at the bottom of it and waits for them to come back down. After a few minutes, both Aipom and Spinarak let out pained cries, " Pooooooom," " Raaaaaaak," catching the attention of everyone. " Aipom, Spinarak, what's going on," Mitch shouts as everyone runs over to the base of the tree. " Poooooooooom" Aipom cries as it falls out of the tree and lands on the ground with spirals in its eyes. Mitch quickly recalls it before Spinarak and the Pokémon that they've been fighting, a Pineco, fall out of the tree at the same time. " Raaaak," " Coooooo," they both shout as they land with loud thuds. 

   Both Spinarak and Pineco quickly jump back up as Pineco's body begins to glow in a blinding white light. After a few seconds, the light fades and the newly evolved Forretress looks around and sees that it's outnumbered. " Tressss," it grunts before it climbs back into its tree. However, the first branch that it lands on is unable to support its weight, it breaks and Forretress falls to the ground. " Treessss," it grunts before it tries once again to go back up and another branch snaps under its weight and it lands back on the ground. " Looks like you're too heavy for your old home. You seem like a powerful Pokémon though, would you like to come with us," Mitch asks. Forretress looks at Mitch and nods before looking over at Spinarak and giving it an angry glare, it returns the glare. "So, you want to have a battle with Spinarak before I catch you," he asks as Forretress grunts " Treeeess," in response.

   " Well in that case, Spinarak use X-Scissor," Mitch commands as Spinarak's front legs glow yellowish green and it uses them to form an X shape. " Raaaaaaak," it cries as it runs forward and slams its legs against the face of Forretress. " Foooooooooor," it groans before it quickly shakes off the pain and its mouth begins to glow yellowish green. " Treesss," it grunts as it uses Bug Bite and bites down very hard on Spinarak's back. " Spinnnnnnnnaaaaa," it cries as it tries to free itself from the mouth of Forretress. " Use Shadow Sneak," Mitch orders as Spinarak's body becomes ghost-like and it disappears beneath the ground. " Treess," Forretress mumbles in a confused tone whilst looking around for Spinarak. " Raaaaaaaaaaaak," it cries as it reappears behind Forretress and stabs it through the body with one of its ghostly legs. " Fooooooooooor," it cries as Spinarak's body returns to normal. However, Forretress still has plenty of fight left in it as it quickly turns around and fires a large beam of silver energy from its mouth.

   " Raaaaaaaaaaaak," Spinarak screams as the Flash Cannon hits it head on and knocks it backwards. " Raaaak," it groans as it lands hard on the ground and tries to get back up. However, Forretress is not done as it jumps high into the air and its body glows silver. " Treeeeeesssss," it shouts as it falls to the ground and lands on Spinarak with all of its weight. Forretress jumps off of Spinarak, revealing that it is lying in a small crater created by the Heavy Slam and is barely moving. At first, it looks like Spinarak is unable to get back up until its body begins to glow in a blinding white light. " Treessss," Forretress grunts in an annoyed tone as the light begins to fade and a new Pokémon stands in the crater that Spinarak was in. " Aaaaaaaariiiiiaaaaadoooooos," it yells as it jumps out of the crater and glares at Forretress whilst Mitch uses the Pokédex on it. " Ariados, the Long Leg Pokémon, a Bug and Poison-type, the evolved form of Spinarak, its feet are tipped with tiny hooked claws that enable it to scuttle on ceilings and vertical walls. It constricts its foe with thin and strong silk webbing." 

     " Okay than, Ariados, use Night Shade," Mitch hollers as Ariados fires a beam of black energy from each of its eyes. " Foooooooooooor," Forretress exclaims as the beams slam into it and knock it against the tree that is was living in. " Now attack with Electroweb," Mitch shouts as Ariados spits a web made of electricity out of its mouth. However, Forretress is quick to counter as it fires a Flash Cannon at the web and destroys it. " Treeeeessss," it shouts as it lunges forward in an attempt to hit Ariados with another Bug Bite. " Psychic," Mitch grumbles as the eyes of Ariados glow pink and it uses the telekinesis that it gets from the move to fling Forretress through the air and then against the tree. " Treeeesssss," it grunts as it hits the ground and tries to get back up. Mitch is about to throw a Poké Ball at Forretress when its body becomes to glow white. " Is it evolving again," Mitch asks before Forretress explodes and Ariados gets caught up in the explosion. " Doooooooooooooosssssss," it screams as everyone else is forced to shield their eyes. 

  " Not an evolution, just Forretress using Self-Destruct," Mitch says as the smoke from the attack clears, revealing Forretress and Ariados laying motionless on the ground. " Tresss," " Arrriaaa," they grown as spirals appear in their eyes ( Fun Fact: This is the first time that one of Mitch's Pokémon has been knocked out in the same battle that it evolved in) Mitch quickly recalls Ariados before taking out an empty Poké Ball and throwing it towards Forretress. The ball hits it on the head, sucks it inside, and starts to shake. The capture noise goes off and Mitch goes up to the ball and uses his Pokédex to send it to Oak's lab. " You two better apologize to Forretress for getting into that fight with it in its tree," Mitch lectures to Ariados and Aipom's Poké Balls before also sending them to Oak's lab and receiving two other balls in return.
