I sighed as I slammed my next shot down. Matt the bartender walked over and grabbed my empty glass. "Need another?" He asked and I nodded. Safe to say this was definitely one of the more shitty Christmas's I have had. I was supposed to be meeting a date at the bar. But he stood me up. So to save myself at least some embarrassment. I'm drinking away my problems. It was only me in the bar. Until I heard the bell of the door ring. What's that saying about angels and bells? I don't know. But the man walking in sure looked like an Angel. He walked in taking his coat off shivering. "Mind if I sit here?" He asked putting his coat over the chair next to me. I shook my head throwing back another shot. "What can I get you?" Matt asked and he sighed. "Can I just get Jack on the rocks please." He said and I laughed. "Rough night too?" He asked and he nodded. "Yeah you could say that." He said and I laughed. "You?" He asked and I nodded. "Mhm. I was supposed to go on a date and he never showed." I said and he cocked his head. "A date on Christmas Eve?" He asked and I nodded with a laugh. "Yeah I know. Stupid fucking idea. That's why I'm drinking alone." I said and he sighed. "Sorry I didn't mean to sound judgmental." He said and I shrugged. "No harm no foul." I said and he nodded. "Well, I'm here now. So you don't have to drink alone if you don't want to." He said with a caring smile and I blushed nodding.
-2 hours later-
I laughed at Roman as he danced around the bar. This song was blaring through the speakers.
And the alcohol mixed with his humor caused him to be a dancing machine. I was damn near falling out of my chair. "Come onnnnn! Get up and dance with me. We both have nothing to lose." He said with a laugh making me giggle. I sat my glass down getting up. I danced around with him as Matt laughed at both of us. "See isn't this so much fun?" He asked me laughing and I giggled nodding. The song ended and I sighed taking a drink of my water that I was now drinking. "I think we make a killer dance couple." Roman said making me laugh and nod. Roman looked at me as the familiar Christmas song flooded the speakers.
It really set the mood for the night. I looked down at my glass swirling around my straw with a sigh. "Hey..." Roman said softly making me look up at him. "You uh wanna dance?" He asked and I smiled. "Why not." I said making him smile. He grabbed my hand bringing me out to the middle of the bar. His hand slid to my hip and I put my one free hand on his shoulder. We rocked back and forth as the song played. "So what brought you into the bar tonight anyway? You didn't tell me." I said looking up and him and he sighed. "Came home from traveling from work and saw my fiancé sleeping with the guy she told me not to worry about. I didn't really know what to do so I walked out and came here to try and unwind." He said and I sighed. "People these days don't want real love or connections with people." I said and he hummed. "It's one thing to want to be free but it's another to be tied down and not respect your relationship you know?" He asked and I nodded. "Completely understood. I'm sorry she did that to you." I said and he shrugged. "I'll be okay. I'm sorry that guy never showed. He's dumb as hell for leaving you here." He said making me smile. "Well I'd like to think that I am somewhat entertaining but maybe I'm not." I said shrugging. "You've been amazing company! Don't sell yourself short." He said making me smile. The song slowly dyed down and I sighed leaning my head onto his chest for a moment. The next song began to play and I smiled.
