Jay had abandoned the hit and run scene, following the ambulance to the hospital as if it were carrying the President of the United States. He left the officers to deal with the scene; they were perfectly happy with Jay taking Lennox off their hands and it was easier for them to handle scene instead. They could handle it, Jay had concluded. He didn't trust them to go with Lennox to the hospital anyway. He'd called Will on the drive, who met them at the ambulance bay when they arrived. Jay watched from behind as Will coordinated with the paramedics, and after taking her gurney through to an empty bay in triage. He watched his brother treat her with ease, despite his urge to interfere and micro-manage. This would've been Will's millionth collapsed lung, so he had no problem identifying the problem and solving it within the first few minutes of them being there. After her initial treatment Will instructed the nurses to take Lennox to her usual hospital room, 256, and after hooking her up to IV fluids and monitors, the nurses left Jay to stand guard on his own. Will joined him after cleaning himself up, and he stood beside Jay as he sighed.

"I can't believe it's her. Where'd you find her?"

"Officer called in a hit and run down by the graveyard. DUI with a victim. I got down there ten minutes later, saw the ambulance. She was the victim."

"Crazy man. What was she doing at the graveyard?"

"It was her mom's anniversary today. But I didn't talk to her, she was unconscious when I got there."

Will just shook his head in surprise, crossing his arms over his chest. "Well she's gonna be okay. The nurses said her vitals were fine, her lung reinflated like a balloon, so we'll keep an eye on her overnight but looks like she'll make a full recovery."

Jay nodded, relieved to hear the good news. He sighed, leaning back against the wall as Will glanced at him.

"Have you called her dad?"

"No." Jay shook his head as his brother raised an eyebrow.

"Are you going to?" He waited for a response, but when he didn't get one he narrowed an his eyes. "Jay, he needs to know."

"I know."

"It's been two years, and you know what he's going through right now, he needs this."

"I know."

"So you'll call him?"

"Yes."

Will heard the frustration in Jay's voice, but didn't seem phased by it.

"If you don't, I will. You can't keep her to yourself."

At that Jay glared at him. His face said he was angry at the statement, but his lack of response and sigh of defeat indicated how well Will knew his brother. After a few seconds, Jay gave up trying to hide whatever it was he felt like he was hiding.

"I know."
