"Mom?! Mom I know you're here!! I can't believe I'm trying to talk to a ghost."
Lennox sighed as she went down to the basement. Almost as soon as she got down the steps the black mist surrounding her, swirling like a tornado until it was at her feet opening up the hole in the ground. She took a deep breath as she gazed into the darkness.
"Please let him be here."
As if she'd done it a thousand times, Lennox expertly front-rolled onto her feet after sliding her way down the hole. The first thing she noticed was the set of flame torches attached to the walls, giving enough light to the cave for her to see the cage clearly across the room.
"Lennox!" Jay stared at her, scrambling to the front of the cage only to be choked by the collar as the chain ran out of give.
"Jay," She rushed over to the side of the cage where his movement was a little more flexible, taking his hands as he put them through the bars.
"You heard me, she said it was impossible."
"No I heard you, I came as fast as I could, are you okay?" She scanned as much as him as she could see, then putting her hand on his cheek as he forced a smile.
"For now. She hasn't hurt me, but you shouldn't be here, she only took me to get to you,"
"I know. We knew she'd try something right? Jay I'm so sorry,"
"No, it's not your fault, none of this is." He shook his head as he gently held her wrist.
"Everybody keeps saying that. It's getting harder and harder to believe it." She sighed.
Her head dropped slightly, and after a few seconds of leaning her head against the bars she felt Jay lean his forehead against hers, the cold of the iron soon warming up as he held her hands tightly.
"So this is the manor, huh? It's nice. Homey." He joked.
Lennox let out a laugh. "Don't joke. I never wanted this. I never wanted you to come here."
"I know. But we're here together."
