It was strange to look at herself, as if there were a mirror positioned where Ekaterina was standing. But this was the first time she was seeing her twin in true form, and she was far from a reflection of Lennox.
"What do you want?" Lennox asked cautiously.
The priestess looked around, finding the nature calming. "I see you're living well. How are you finding it?"
"Stuck inside my own mind? I'm sure if you wanted it to be worse it would be."
"I'm glad."
"How many more souls are you gonna take before it's enough? You know I knew some of those people, and you've turned them into your slaves."
"Well when you haven't eaten in over five centuries it takes a little while to satiate that kind of hunger." Ekaterina smiled sweetly as Lennox shook her head.
"They don't stand a chance, do they? This was your plan all along? The ancestors, my mother, they all tried to tell me how good you were, that you would bring peace and purity into the world, whatever way you thought best. How many of them knew that your version of purity was consuming the spirits of humanity town by town until you had an army big enough to take on the rest of the world?"
"Well I hadn't exactly planned on showing them the entire truth. It was...how you would say, need to know. Even your mother is unaware of the extent of my plans, but I have her full and complete devotion. Loyal, to my cause, just as the ancestors were. But there's something strangely resistant to my allure in your town."
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm referring to the troubles I've had with persuading those who reside here. It seems as though they're under some sort of protection spell that I can't seem to break through."
"Oh really? I thought you were the most powerful witch the world has ever seen. Or you know, something like that."
Ekaterina chuckled at Lennox's remark. "Your naïve façade is amusing. Especially since the protection spell guarding your people's souls is yours."
