"What are you talking about?" He frowned.
When she turned back to him she had a response prepared, but she saw the way he was looking at her. Even Lennox had to admit that physically, she looked quite different to the way she did when he last saw her. He was analysing the veins running down her arm, trailing his eyes up towards her shoulder and collarbone which were completely black in colour, not forgetting the black blotches on her chest and neck as the rest seemed to climb like vines up the left side of her face. He gently took her hand as she looked him up and down, confused and slightly deterred by his attentiveness, as if the way he was behaving had her at a loss for words.
"How did it get like this?" He asked quietly.
"I don't know. It just...grew. It doesn't hurt." She assured, hoping that it would lessen his concern.
"Are you sure?"
"If it did, it doesn't anymore Listen, did you call my father?"
She pulled away from him as he shook his head. "Not yet. I was meant to,"
"Don't." She picked up her jacket from the bed, putting it on as he frowned.
"Why?"
"Because I'm not staying."
Only then did Jay clock that she was getting ready to leave.
"But you had a collapsed lung, you're meant to be here they need to make sure you're okay."
"I'm fine. They fixed my lung, I'm good to go."
"But you can't go."
"Look, it was good to see you, but I have other places to be, and honestly I wasn't ready to deal with coming back here yet so the sooner I leave the better."
"What are you talking about? Lennox it's been two years, your closest friends, your own father, they all think you're dead and you're not gonna do anything about that?"
"No, and I expect you to keep it to yourself that you've seen me, that'd be great."
"You can't ask me to do that,"
"I just did." She stood firm in front of him, and he looked her up and down with a look that can only be described as scorn.
He shook his head. "What is up with you?"
"Meaning?"
"I mean why are you acting like this?"
"Like what? I'm asking you for a favour Jay. Can you not do me a favour?"
He stuttered on his rebuttal. What was he supposed to say? No?
