"What was that about?"

Lennox turned around, seeing Kaila stood by the kitchen door.

She shook her head. "Nothing. Just catching up."

"Catching up? He just left." She raised an eyebrow as Lennox frowned.

"Why?"

"Well he looked pretty riled up. Whatever you said to him must've pissed him off." She walked over to stand in Jay's place at the counter. "What exactly did you say to him Len?"

"Nothing yet. I told him the manor burned down, that it was over. He got frustrated, I don't know why, I would've thought that information would be a relief." Lennox took a glass out of the cabinet, filling it with water as Kaila smiled.

"You really have no idea how human emotions work, do you?"

She stood still at Kaila's statement, glancing towards her shoulder as her friend laughed to herself.

"Jay's a tough guy Lennox, you know that. You didn't consider how hard it would be for you to come back?"

"No. I didn't." Lennox snapped, turning to face her as she watched intently.

"You really don't feel anything. Not for your dad, Jay, anyone. It's so interesting."

She narrowed her eyes as she stepped closer to Lennox.

"Just out of interest, did you feel anything while you were talking to Jay?"

"Feel anything? Like what?" Lennox asked, confused at what she was implying.

Her cluelessness made Kaila smile.

"Nothing. Just curious."
