"Alright, I'm on my way." Jay sighed as he ended the phone call with Casey.

He had worked the case of Kaila's disappearance when she first went missing, and after only fourteen months of searching, the case had gone cold. Now, after everything he knew about the manor and the truth about what had become of Kaila, having her body show up after almost a year of being alive and well after her mysterious return to the town would cause uproar of the locals against the police. The last thing he needed was to be ridiculed for not knowing how to do his job, but what was he supposed to do? Tell everybody the truth? Expose Lennox? He watched from the doorway as she slept, hesitant to wake her up from the peace she was amidst in her dreams. Ten more minutes, he thought, heading over to the bathroom to shower. Ten minutes later he had returned to the bedroom to get dressed, being as quiet as he could as Lennox slept.

"No," She whispered.

Jay turned around, ready to apologize for waking her up. But with her eyes still closed and a slight furrow in her brow as she shifted, Jay could see that Lennox was dreaming. He smiled to himself, closing the dresser and slipping on the dark grey t-shirt he'd pulled out.

"I...no, don't hurt,"

Jay turned again after hearing the difference in Lennox's tone. She sounded upset. He frowned and went over to her, seeing the slight glisten of moisture on her skin as she began to collect the bedsheet in her fist.

"You can't take him,"

"Lennox?" Jay's voice was quiet so as to not frighten her, but not quite loud enough to wake her as her breathing became erratic.

Seeing the tensing of her throat made Jay unconsciously mirror her breathing as he became worried about her dream, which was making itself increasingly clear to be a nightmare.

"Mom...stop," She gripped his hand as he managed to sit down next to her and slide his hand into hers.

"Len, hey,"

"Don't,"

Whatever was happening, she was beginning to panic.

"Lennox can you hear me?"

"Stop!"
