The coolness of the autumn breeze drifted through the half-opened window of Jay's bedroom, the not-so-distant sounds of the city causing him to stir. Within seconds, flashes of the night before came rushing back, flooding his mind with visuals that rivalled any erotic novel one could find. Over two years of longing and almost irresistible urges had all boiled down to hearing those words.

'It was all to stop me falling in love with you Jay...by the time I'd disappeared, I already felt that way'

Every bad memory of missing Lennox, of mourning her, had been overridden by such simple words that caused an overwhelming influx of desire that Jay could no longer hold back. The feeling of their first kiss was one he would never forget - a kiss born of everlasting hope and sustained by the promise of a future he had never seen with anyone but her.

For Lennox, it was a kiss that fueled more than just her feminine desire to indulge in her first time; the kiss itself was a catalyst that ignited the parts of her mind that she had been missing for the past two years, allowing her to feel every sensation that made her want to let her body cave into nobody else except him.

As Jay awoke, he felt the soft skin of Lennox's forearm resting upon his as she slept, his eyes lingering on their intertwined fingers as he gently traced circles on her skin with the pad of his thumb. He remained still for a while, watching. After so long dreaming and wishing, he wanted this moment to last.

His moment, however, was cut short when his alarm clock started ringing. Without waking Lennox, he was able to twist himself enough to hit the off switch, but not a minute later, his phone began vibrating on the bedside table. Resisting the urge to throw it across the room he reluctantly picked it up, sighing as he answered the phone call coming through from Sergeant Casey.

"Sarge, what's up?" He whispered, gently pulling his arm out from under Lennox's so that he could leave the bedroom.

"Sorry to wake you Jay, but we caught another case."

"Another one?" He closed the door behind him and stepped further into the living room. "No disrespect Sarge but we don't have the manpower to be taking on this many cases at once. I know it's not my place,"

"No I understand what you're saying, and I agree with you, the mayor is running us into the ground, not to mention Rawson is out on training right now so I'm another man down, you were my only option."

Jay sighed as he leant against the kitchen island, running his hand over his face as he remembered that Rawson had been called in for extra training at the beginning of the week, and wouldn't be back for another few days.

"Right."

"Anyway I figured you'd want to be on this case seeing as you worked it before."

"Before? What, like a cold case?"

"If you can call it cold. Kaila Johnson's body just dropped."
