"As Delta Psi sister, I pledge to be forever loyal to my sorority and my sisters. I pledge to abide by the rules set forth by the ancestors of the sorority, never disrespect my letters, always act in accordance with the image of the institution. Should I ever bring shame upon my letters, I will accept the consequences of my actions and shall be dejected from the sorority. I pledge to uphold the reputation of myself, my sisters, and my sorority through my actions. I make this pledge of my own volition, and joyously accept the title bestowed upon me by my elders."
Skye clapped to herself as Lennox looked her up and down. She'd never seen someone so happy about getting the stereotypically full college experience. Once the oath had been recited by all pledges, Emily - a Delta Psi sister - brought out a bronze chalice. By this point Brittany had composed herself, and her frustrated expression had been replaced by an evil smile. She took the chalice from Emily.
"To consummate your new sisterhood, you will now each drink from the sacred chalice." She took it to the pledge at the end of the row. "Drink. Let the menstrual blood of your sisters nourish you as you solidify your bond to Delta Psi."
Needless to say, the room went silent. The girls looked at each other, shocked as Brittany pushed the chalice into Jess's hands.
"Did she say menstrual blood?" Skye whispered.
"I doubt it, she's probably going for fear factor." Kaila frowned, watching intently to see if Jess would drink it.
"One way to find out." Lennox went over to them and took the chalice from Jess, drinking some without hesitation.
They all gawked at her, one of them gagging as she swished the thick fluid around her mouth before swallowing. Fruity, metallic, with a powdery aftertaste. She gave the chalice back to Brittany.
"It's cranberry juice and an iron supplement mixed with a thickener. It's fine."
She made split second eye contact with all the pledges, who sighed with utter relief and started passing the chalice around as Brittany stared at her in surprise and anger.
