Lennox frowned slightly, still not quite believing herself as she told the story. There was a lot still to make sense of; she couldn't imagine how disjointed Jay's thoughts were in that moment. The two spent the next hour going back and forth, asking and answering questions to the best of their ability, eventually taking a break when Jay needed to refill his coffee cup. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for the second part of the questioning as he returned to his seat.
"So...let me get this straight, you are meant to be some sort of miracle baby, whose destiny is to break the cycle Ekaterina accidentally put on herself just because she didn't want to be immortal anymore?"
"Sounds about right."
"Right. How the hell are you supposed to do that?"
"Oh it's pretty simple actually, all I have to do give myself up, and be the sacrifice that allows Ekaterina to enter my body, and come back to life through my death."
Lennox took the last sip of her coffee and put the mug on the table as Jay stared at her. He wasn't even expecting a response, let alone one like that.
"What...are you serious?"
"Yeah. My mom seems pretty excited about the whole thing. Personally I'm not seeing the upside for me."
"Wait a second, she told you that's what you had to do?"
"Yeah. The final sacrifice, the bring back the most powerful traveller witch there ever was. Her spirit is bound to the house until she has a vessel, and yours truly was apparently only born to be her vessel, so...I'm still trying to wrap my head around it."
"You're not gonna do it are you?"
"I don't want to. I mean what happens to me if I let her in? I just...fade away? Out of sight, out of mind? Because the second she's inside me she takes over, and if she's as powerful as mom said there won't be room for the two of us."
"You can't do it. There has to be another way Len."
"Well she didn't exactly give me one. She told me I had magic. Power that she could only dream of understanding. I didn't believe her, but she just kept pushing, and I got angry and I...I had fire, shoot out of my hand Jay. White fire, I've never seen anything like it, and I could feel the energy running through my body."
She looked at her hands as she shook her head. "I spent years trying to figure out why me? Why isn't this happening to someone else? What's so special about Lennox? Now I don't even know if I'm human. I...I think I'm scared Jay. At least, I think this is how people feel when they're scared, I don't know."
