Jay could see that even though she'd done something good, and healed him, that she was scared of being able to do that, so he took her hands and gently pulled her closer as the gold in her eyes began to fade.
"Hey." He smiled that same smile Lennox always liked, and she began to feel herself calm down as he carefully tucked her hair behind her ear.
"How do you feel? After last night, I mean."
And Lennox nodded as she laced her fingers through his. "Good. I can feel everything Jay. I don't know what happened, but everything is...different."
She looked around the apartment as he cocked an eyebrow. "You mean...your emotions?"
"Are back, yeah. Because of you."
"Lennox do you know what that means?"
"That we have no idea what's gonna happen now?"
"Sort of. Look, I know we have a lot to figure out, and I would much rather stay here and do that than go and identify Kaila's body right now, but the point is, you're you. And I love you."
Hearing those words and being able to understand them, and feel them, brought a brightness to Lennox's eyes that hadn't been possible for years. She may have been scared about everything else, but in that moment she could feel nothing but happiness and joy as a smile crept onto her face.
"I love you too."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"You mean it?"
"Yes I mean it."
"Good."
The two kissed, Lennox embracing the influx of emotion as Jay's protective arms pulled her closer still.
"Listen to me, whatever happens next, we'll get through it okay? Together."
Their moment of solace was interrupted by Jay's phone vibrating in his pocket, and after pulling it out to check it he sighed.
"Casey?" Lennox asked.
"Yeah, I gotta go, he's meeting me at the morgue."
"Okay. I know you can't tell me much,"
"Len this is Kaila we're talking about. Whatever I know, you'll know. I for one am curious about where your mom is now if she's not using Kaila as a vessel anymore."
"Yeah, I should talk to Skye, let her know what's going on. Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, I promise. Can't say the same for my dresser though." He cocked an eyebrow as he glanced over his shoulder, Lennox looking into the bedroom and seeing the dresser in pieces.
"Yeah, skin I can fix. Not sure about wood though." She looked back at him as he let out a soft laugh and stood up.
"Are you staying here?"
"Actually, can you drop me at campus? I have classes today."
"Yeah, sure. You know it'd be safer here,"
"I'm not hiding Jay."
"Not even a little?"
Lennox smiled to herself as she went into the bedroom to quickly get dressed, Jay sighing as she went.
