"So, Lennox, why don't you tell us what happened?"
Rawson sat across the table from Lennox as she looked around the interrogation room. Jay was stood by the wall next to her, and he'd made no attempt to say a single word since coming into the room with Rawson.
"You're not leading?" Her gaze didn't waiver from Jay after settling on him, but instead of getting an answer from him, Rawson spoke first.
"No, he's not."
"Why? You don't trust yourself with me?" She suggested.
He stayed in the shadow of the room, but still didn't reply.
"Lennox, Jay has been allowed to sit in because he seems to make you more comfortable. It's not that he doesn't trust himself, leading the interrogation would be a conflict of interest. You understand." Rawson explained.
Lennox finally dragged her eyes away from Jay.
"I understand."
"Okay, good. So why don't you tell us what happened?"
The events of the night replayed in Lennox's mind like a tape, occasionally pausing at the most significant moments.
"The sorority held a party to celebrate the initiation of the new sisters and new brothers of one of the fraternities. At about 12.30 I realised Skye was gone, Kaila said she'd seen someone take her upstairs. The bathroom was empty, the rest of the bedrooms were empty or occupied, and one door was locked. Before I went to the second floor I saw Bentley come out of the locked door, so I went to check the room. He had a cut on his lip and blood on his ring, and when I got close enough I heard him say 'Dude, she was so gone' to his friends. I found Skye passed out on the bed, almost unconscious, her stockings were torn, her dress was around her waist, and she was bleeding from a fresh cut on her cheek. She was unresponsive so I took her to the bathroom and made her throw up, then I took her downstairs, found Kaila, who stayed with her outside the house while I went to find Bentley. He was in the kitchen refilling his cup, so I removed it from his hand and after telling me that there was 'plenty of Bentley to go around' I bashed his head into the stove. I took his ring, called Jay, and gave it to him when he arrived to help me."
