Lennox was speechless. What could she say? None of it seemed possible. She had to take more than a moment to absorb everything her mother had explained, but again, she was left with more questions than she had answers.

"What about the girls? Why did Sasha and Kaila have to die?"

"They didn't, they were useful. Each of your friends, Skye, Sasha, Kaila, are the descendants of the same friends Ekaterina had at her side, you were destined to be friends with them before you were even born."

"That's impossible."

"Is it? Do you remember the visions you used to have as a child? Of the four princesses in their beautiful dresses? In a big castle? Dancing with princes or running through the fields? Who do you think they were? Those visions were of Ekaterina, of your past life."

"No."

"Yes, I know it sounds strange. But it's true, every word."

"Is it? I didn't hear you mention Ekaterina having a baby, how can I be here if she died before having a family?"

"I thought you'd pick up on that. You have to remember, all of this happened when Ekaterina was very young, usually in that time period girls as young as eleven were promised to kings and princes but Ekaterina was a traveller, she was to be kept pure until marriage at 18, to another traveller, that was her family rule. She met the love of her life, a soldier, when she was just sixteen, but she wasn't allowed to be with him because he wasn't a man of stature or wealth, he wasn't royalty, but to her he was perfect. Jay was a soldier, no?"

Lennox stared at her mother, who smiled.

"Well, they had to sneak around, she would've been killed if anyone had discovered that she was in love, especially with a non-traveller man. They were obsessed, you've never seen a bond so strong, and her mother was more forgiving than her father would have been. On her seventeenth birthday, she and the soldier consummated their love because he was being shipped away for duty, she fell pregnant, it was discovered two weeks after his departure. They made a promise to each other that they would meet again in death, a promise so strong that it made her try and change her immortality spell so that she could someday die and spend eternity with him. Because of the baby her father threatened to shun her from the family, but her mother came up with an alternative. Having a boy, she could earn back her family's trust and respect, but if she had a girl? She would never see the child again. Her father agreed, and nine months later Ekaterina gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. He stuck to his word, and the child was taken from her mother's arms, never to be seen again. On her 19th birthday, Ekaterina received word that among hundreds of other soldiers, her love had been killed, and she was so devastated that wanted to take her life to be with him, so in her anger, she made an attempt to adjust her spell, the dark magic consuming her and her friends, but cursing them in the process. They would forever be replicated, over and over again to live and die the way they had at the start. You, as the legend, are supposed to break the cycle, you have the power to do such things, you have no idea what you are capable of."
