Jay was taken aback by Lennox's cold demeanour. Why would she not want her dad to know that she was alive? He spent the walk down to the hospital doors trying to reason with her, but as she walked out into the parking lot he stood by the entrance in defeat. Will appeared next to him.
"Is that Lennox? Why is she leaving? We have more tests to run."
"Because she's not ready to be back yet." Jay retorted, mimicking Lennox as Will frowned.
"Woah. What happened?" He turned to face Jay, who'd spun away from the doors to go and slump himself into one of the waiting room chairs.
He dragged his hands down his face. "I don't know. She was up when I got here, ready to go. Asked me not to tell Patrick that she was even alive let alone back in town."
"You're kidding."
"No. Said it was a favour."
"Why would she ask for that?"
"I'd say ask her but she wanted to get out of here as soon as she could."
Will narrowed his eyes, considering possible explanations. "Maybe she doesn't want her dad to see her like that. You know, all the black stuff."
"No, it wasn't that."
"You got a better explanation?"
"She seemed different when I talked to her."
"Different how?"
"Like...like she didn't even want to know me. She didn't want to be here, she just wanted to avoid me. She pulled out the damn canula man." Jay sighed as Will cocked an eyebrow.
"Then she must've pulled out the tube we'd put between her ribs as well."
The brothers shared a look of concern before quickly heading up to Lennox's hospital room.
