(The Great War Period.)

Fire. Blood. Death.

The land below her was torn to shreds, strewn with corpses.

Worst of all, the lifeless dragons scattering the battlefield.

Avena stares down at the sight, hardened expression.

She is young, in this time. But old enough to know the near extinction of the dragon species.

She does not know where the few that remain, other than her own, have taken as their new home.

In the midst of the bloodshed, her deceiving daughter, C'yra, had crowned herself Empress of Purrsia. When Avena had turned her back on her.

Her other daughter, Ci'ka, had fled to the higher travels of Purrsia. In a small village on Beast Island. But still kept contact with her sister.

And her three sons. Cassius, Icarus, and Solas. All perished in battle.

Her husband, Chajl, now locked up in Telrianti Prison.

Avena was entirely alone. And perhaps she preferred it that way.

Her eyes follow the sunset light, illuminating the battlefield strewn with decay and death in gold-amber light.

It is cruelly beautiful.

She dusts over the brimstone from her tunic, and slowly turns her back on the sight.

Her dragon, big and tawny, stands behind her, large wings limp at his sides.

"Mammon."

She says, as she approaches.

He bows his head, and she clambers onto his back.

"Rise."

And the two fly off, toward Elisia.

~~~~~~
Amato surges through the crowds.
"C'yra!" He screams, his voice cracking.
The newly crowned Empress sprints from the clearing into his arms.
"Amato!"
The crowd murmur and gasp.
He hugs her tightly.
"Where's Lyric and the twins?" He gasps out.
The five year old and two year olds.
"Angella has them. Hey, hey, Ato, what's wrong?"
He heaves, face twisted in switching emotions.
"I was in Mystacor. To help with the rebuilding. To announce Castaspella as the head Soceress. But...but I got a vision instead."
C'yra pales.
"Sweet Freyja, what did you see?!"
"We cannot trust Angella! We cannot trust Shadow Weaver. We lose...we lose...something. Something very important. Because of them."
C'yra sighs, with a pained expression.
A war had just ended. A vision had just been insighted that was telling them something they loved would be stolen from them. She'd just lost her brothers. Her father was now locked up. Her mother was on the run or dead.
She swallows.
"I...I see."
Amato lets out a dry sob, and leans against her.
She only hugs him tightly. Silently.
Because no words can protect him from the future.
