C'yra was shaken awake.

‘Mom! We're under attack!’ Catra yelled frantically.

C'yra lept from her bed and grabbed her staff.

‘Get Naeva, Anu will hide Aeris in the vault.’

Catra obeys for once in her life.

All around the palace, guards prepare, servants don swords, and royals hold a wide variety of weapons.

Pucas mini army blasted at the palace.

Watching turrets crumble beneath the fiery blasts. Angering the magicat empress further and further.

Luckily, they were only dealing with a reasonably small section of his army, and Puca was not there.

Cubed chunks of beast island fall around the palace as miniscule fights brake out among the enemy and the servants and guards.

C'yra is starting to panic.

She pretends that she is fine though, especially when Naeva charges into battle.

She was terrified of losing the head of the guard. Naeva was like another daughter to her, ever since the young girls mother died of eclampsia fourteen years before.

Her nerves were running wild.

C'yra couldn't join the battle. Due to her prosthetics being fragile when it comes to the swords of the shadow army.

She paced the parlor worriedly.

She had long since accepted and learned to love her self and her disabilities, but that did not mean she wouldn't be upset when she could not protect her loved ones because of it.

Suddenly, she heard a particularly loud gunshot from outside and tore her gaze from the marble tiles to the cause.

She wished she hadn't looked.

Anu Blightshade. Sweet, young, Anu.

Dead.

“Oh Naeva…. “ Though C’yra.

Anu. The baby who came home when Wren Blightshade didn't. The boy who strove to make his family proud. The guard who loved his sister and his dad. The child that bore flawless courage and compassion. Dead.

A heart wrenching scream of rage, despair and grief ripped through the now silent garden.

Naevas pupils slitted. Her claws unsheathed. her bloodied sword raided over her head.

The next few seconds, C'yra couldn't believe her eyes.

A massacre had been commited before her very eyes by her future daughter in law.

A sea of blood sloshed and splashed as the armed magicat twisted and slashed through the air, killing everything and every enemy in her path. Mercilessly.

It was horrific.

The windows that went the whole way around the parlor were painted crimson with blood. Screams of agony sang all round.

It all led back to Wren. Wren and Anu's deaths, and her own father having dementia and not remembering her.

when the entirety of Halfmoon was completely quiet.

Naeva dropped to her knees, and wailed in despair.

If not for Lyrics gentle hand guiding her inside, she might just have grabbed her dagger and plunged it into her heart to end her suffering
