Taehyun and Huening Kai are still going to school in this fic.

Summer break had recently ended for both Taehyun and Huening Kai which meant they'd be going back to school. This was usually a stressful time for the two idols as their minds were focused on this while also having to deal with busy schedules as a kpop idol. During this time, Bighit tried keeping their schedules less busy until later in the year and most of the time, this worked. However, TXT has started planning for another comeback recently so the group hasn't had much free time and instead been focusing on the new album. And since Taehyun and Huening Kai had gone back to school, they've been more stressed than the other members.

The duo has been skipping multiple days in a row just because of multiple dance practice sessions, recording songs, photoshoots, interviews and more. This has taken a toll on both idols but mainly Taehyun since Bighit had, for some weird reason that they didn't specify, chose to make him more busy than the maknae. Huening had gotten at least some free time, even if it was little but Taehyun hadn't gotten any yet. Which leads us to now, where TXT returned to the dorm late but Yeonjun and Soobin still had enough energy to heat up some leftovers from yesterday for dinner. The leader watched as the younger three members all walked in and kept his eyes trained on Taehyun as he grabbed his plate of food then left to his room right after. Soobin told Yeonjun he'd eat later before following the younger and stopping right in front of his bedroom door.

"Taehyunie?" Soobin called out as he knocked on the door, "Can you open the door? I wanna ask you something" No response so the leader tried again, "Taehyun? Can I come in"

After another no response, Soobin decided to just open the door and ask Taehyun his question. He slowly opened the door as if to tell Taehyun that he was there before pushing it open fully to find his dongsaeng sitting at his desk, looking at something. Taehyun had his headphones on so Soobin understood why he didn't hear him but the younger didn't seem to notice him until Soobin physically tapped his shoulder.

"Hmm? Oh, hi Soobin hyung. When did you get here?" Taehyun slid off his headphones and turned around to face Soobin.

"I knocked on your door but you didn't answer. You okay, Taehyunie? I watched you just grab your food then come back here instead of eating with the others. I'm a little worried."

"I have a test tomorrow and I'm trying to get in as much studying as possible" Taehyun explained, gesturing to the monitor and papers on his desk, "And eating here means I'd have a bit more time to study."

The leader sighed before responding, "Taking, like, 10, 5 minutes to eat isn't a giant loss of time. You'll still have time to study after, Taehyun."

"But hyung, we've been really busy with this upcoming album and I haven't gotten any time to study. Please, let me stay here. Just this once" the second youngest begged.

"Taehyun-"

"Hyung~"

Soobin and Taehyun sat in silence while Taehyun stared at Soobin, awaiting his response until Soobin finally broke and let Taehyun stay in his room to eat. Taehyun thanked his hyung before putting his headphones on again and turning back towards his monitor. Soobin stayed there for a few more seconds then got up to leave, shutting the door behind him. He went back to the dining table and told the other members that Taehyun wouldn't be eating with them. Something small inside Soobin told him that this wouldn't be the only time Taehyun would resort to something like this. And he hoped, prayed, that whatever was telling him this would be wrong.
