Hanjin was never one who liked going to school which confused his friends when he got accepted into university. The only reason why he was going to university though was to make his parents happy. Each day that passed was just more boring than the next, a constant reminder of how long it'd actually take until he could leave and head to Korea to train as an idol. That was his dream. Hanjin had absolutely no intent to use the degree he'd get for a job anytime in the next decade. That'd only happen if he wasn't able to make it as a kpop idol.
There was one thing about going to university that Hanjin didn't totally dislike and that was this small café that was located 2 blocks away from the campus. The café wasn't that visible when you were to walk past it nor was it ever really busy which Hanjin stopped by either before or after his classes whenever time allowed him to. The food there was nice and whenever he could stop by, Hanjin would do whatever work he had yet to finish. The uni student was actually planning to go back there today. It's been a week since he went to that café since he's just been too busy but stuff had started to lighten up for him so he thought he'd stop by just for a snack before heading to his apartment.
Hanjin opened the door, that almost-too familiar scent of steaming coffee and melted chocolate filled the air. He missed this place, to say the least, it was like a second home to him for how many times he's been here. A weird, unusual second home but still a home for Hanjin nonetheless. Hanjin walked up to the counter, waiting for someone to come take his order when a certain barista caught his eye and made him freeze. He was absolutely gorgeous with his black & white hair framing his face perfectly, styled in a way that made him look like an idol. Deep brown eyes that lit up when Hanjin saw him smile. And underneath the apron he was wearing was probably one of the best outfits Hanjin's ever seen. Hanjin pulled his eyes away from the barista to look down as he waited for someone.
'This guy must be new. How could I have missed such a gorgeous human? How can someone look that good in the first place?' Hanjin thought to himself, fiddling with the rings on his fingers.
"Umm... hi? Do you wanna order?" a voice came from in front of him.
Hanjin looked up, that same barista now on the other side of the counter looking back at him. He didn't even realize he was full-on gay panicking until they'd been standing in silence for a couple seconds.
"Oh! Yea... sorry 'bout that" Hanjin apologized.
"It's nothing. No need to apologize" the barista replied, making Hanjin sigh a breath of relief that he didn't come off as weird.
"I'll have... uh..." Hanjin stopped to look at the menu behind the barista, 'Come on, Hanjin. Stop gay panicking and just order. You can do that when you leave' he then turned back to the barista, "Just a hot chocolate."
"Is that all?"
"Yea. That's all" the uni student replied.
"That'll be $3..." the barista, Dohoon, paused to look at Hanjin, "... $2.25" Hanjin grabbed out his credit card, paying, then putting it back in his wallet, "Can I have a name?" Dohoon grabbed a cup and pen.
Not a joke, Hanjin had to stop to remember his own name. Dohoon was too ethereal that he forgot it, "Hanjin"
"Your hot chocolate will be ready soon, Hanjin" Dohoon smiled, eyes lighting up again.
Hanjin went over to pick a table far from the counter so he wouldn't be able to get distracted by Dohoon. He came to this café to do schoolwork, not focus on this one new barista that he hasn't seen before. The uni student grabbed out his computer and notes, going to work on a new assignment when, as luck would have it, his mind wandered back to the interaction with Dohoon. But something was off about it. Dohoon was starting to say the price, it seeming like it was above $3 but at the last second, changed to say $2.25. Maybe he just put in the wrong price? It could've been changed and he just forgot. But there was one thought that sat at the back of Hanjin's mind. One thought that seemed too good to be true. No, there was no way it was true. It had to have been Hanjin's mind just playing tricks on him.
