Crystal's POV
"Surprise!" I got a surprise pounce when Anika hugged me from behind. I turned around to see both my old classmates, Anika and John, smile at me.
"Isn't it awesome?" Anika said in pure bliss. "We three get to be classmates for two more years! Oh, you're Chloe, right?" Chloe nods, but I can sense she is getting nervous. Nonetheless, Anika and John did their best to break the ice
"I'm Anika and this is John. Don't worry, you're not alone in this. New beginnings are always tough, huh?" Anika led John, Chloe and me to our new classroom.
3 Faith's classroom
Morning assembly and programme came and went. The classroom filled up with our new classmates, one by one. Some were new faces I couldn't even decipher. Some were familiar, and they were filled with warmth. But things looked optimistic, I knew without a doubt I was going to get along with my new class.
Our form teacher came in soon after, and introduced herself as senior teacher Mdm Yeo. Migrated from China, she had a high proficiency in Chinese and all I was thinking during her introduction was: This lady is very professional. She had a strong voice and accent, always making her voice heard. Yet she was soft at heart, letting us know that we could speak Chinese with her if that's what we were more comfortable with.
She then had a mini lecture about her experiences with excellence and made our class rules her vision of excellence: to put in the effort and strategies but still not trying to tear anyone down. We cleared some basic start-of-the-school-year matters after that.
John's POV
I'm not letting Crystal end here. We will continue with our class icebreakers where we heard one another's names for the first time. Mdm Yeo asked us to walk around the class and hi-five one another, then sharing name, our previous class and an interesting fact about themselves. And we couldn't bluff her and hi 5 someone we knew from our previous class or even primary school.
It seriously daunted me because I didn't really know many people other than the Ong twins and Anika back then. All of a sudden, while walking to find a person, some random guy with purple glasses hi-5ed me.
"Hi, I'm Ethan and I used to be in 2 Faith," he said. "And my present day CCA Table Tennis was my second choice in the CCA forms."
"What was your first?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Robotics. And hey, don't be a loser. Tell me more about yourself."
"Hi, I'm John and I used to be in 2 Joy," I tried to speak confidently. "I'm at Grade 8 piano."
"Wow, the dedication! I could never. Also, if you are in 2 Joy, do you happen to know who is Crystal?"
"Yea! We became friends when she asked me for help to coordinate the national anthem on piano. I help her with literature; she helps me with Chinese." Ethan then sighed and walked off, mumbling something under his breath which aroused my suspicion. Did he and Crystal share a past together?

A/N: To be continued~ also to explain the "knew Chloe without being her classmate" fallacy Chloe is very clingy to Crystal and would follow her to her class sometimes so Anika and John knew about her before they became classmates!!
