Keqing's POV
OBS Camp 1
Walking up the high element staircase, I tackled the first level of high elements, imagining myself to be a character in Xingqiu's video game that I played on whenever I went to his house. Stepping on every obstacle, I looked forward and refused to turn back. I used the ladder provided by the school to effortlessly climb to the next level to conquer. At the bottom, everyone was chorusing and cheering me on. On cloud nine that I was being recognised and praised for my natural athleticism, I raced through the second and third floors and then was lowered down effortlessly.
The next day
Kayak
While we tried to stay in sync rowing our oars, my partner Emi and I started gossiping about the outcasts in our classes back at school. Emi shared with me an outcast that wasn't an outcast from a clubs and societies CCA, but surprisingly in the tennis club! Listening keenly to what she had to share, I giggled at every quirk she shared. She in turn was all ears when I lamented about Chloe's tactics and claiming how her change was all an act. We laughed about how both of outcasts were weebs, before discussing among ourselves what made girls cool and popular: Kpop, pop and boys.
Third day
Along the trails of Bedok
I continued socialising with Emi and her friends, as I paid all attention to their description of the dance CCA in their school. I in turn quipped about my experiences about my own dance CCA sessions, sharing different tips about the different moves. We even talked about the different themes of dances we have done during our time at dance CCA, promising that we would be able to use our free time to do a demonstration of the various skills. Getting along with girls from a girls school was such an enriching performance because they all love performing, so they have even more refreshing insights than a girl from a mixed school.
Fourth day
OBS camp 1
For our final group meal, we were finally treated to fried rice, a stark contrast to all those yucky preserved foods I had to digest for the previous days. Mixing egg into the mixture, a fragrant aroma swept through the air as I took in the smalls. I threw in the various ingredients my group mates have painstakingly prepared, with some of the boys tossing the ingredients around. We were eventually served one last group meal, which tasted so close to the real deal of the egg fried rice at the food court near my school.
Shortly after OBS ended

This conversation happens behind Keqing
Crystal: So my group went sailing! I was so close to the waves I spent more time soaking up the sound of the waves than actually socialising. I socialised more on land though.
Mdm Yeo: That's a bit uncharacteristic of you. But I'm glad you fully immersed yourself in the experience. You can hike any day, we did kayaking in Secondary 1–but to sail for free is a rare commodity. But for our social butterfly, did you make friends?
Crystal: One from the girls school, the other from the vocational college. I was the closest to them, so they exchanged numbers with me early on.
Chloe: I thought I wasn't able to get through OBS without making a lot of blunders, but I made fewer than expected. For one, I didn't burn my hand while doing outdoor cooking! And my group mates didn't look like they were 100% tolerating me throughout.
Mdm Yeo: I can't tell if you said that because of a low confidence or out of humility, but I'm glad you surpassed your expectations. I could look through your journal and we could have a session to discuss on how we can apply these lessons going forward.
Crystal, Ethan, John: Then, can we join her? earnestly throws their journals forward
Mdm Yeo: I'd love to! Also, I have a more important question—even with OBS, do you feel even a bit prepared for EOY?
Chloe: Well, I just need more practice with physics and A Math.
Ethan: Chinese for me.
Mdm Yeo: I don't mind tutoring you for that...
Crystal: For me it's more of maintaining my grades
John: I hope not to just scrap by Social Studies this time.
Mdm Yeo: You can do one or two papers together to get used to the long times, but it's more of focusing on areas you're weak in. After all, you're tested on everything you've learnt this far, so do what helps you while staying objective.

Oh fuck.
Even Chloe is one step ahead of me! The change I've been observing wasn't just an act all this time. Even she's making her steps to get better grades, and she sounded uncharacteristically relaxed when identifying her weak subjects. If I don't do anything about my horrid grades soon, the sick reality of having to retain is going to come true...!
