Nicole's POV

For PE today, we had to form 4 groups of 10. Chloe, Ethan and I formed one group. John led Anika, Crystal and YZ to form up behind me. Lucas looked around cluelessly, trying to find a group to belong to. Ethan thankfully noticed this and gestured Lucas to join his group. Eunice and Fiona Chan joined us soon after. After all, Mr Han was a coach for professional sports and wanted us exposed to the real thing as soon as he could.

Fiona Chan's POV

We are playing softball this term! Five of us would be the runners and five the pitchers. Crystal's new group basically sent everyone to pitch, and I was the pitcher too. That left the rest to be the runners.

"No, I don't want to run," Chloe lamented. "I'll be tagged out, and everyone's going to laugh at me."

"Maybe focus on finishing the whole round of the run instead of worrying about how well you'll do," Ethan coaxed.

"Alright, I'll try."

"You know what? I can let you go last. See how it's being done." Ethan strode to the starting point and picked up the ball, raising his right hand and hurling it to the field. I kept an eye on the ball, waiting for John and his friends to pass it to me. Yet I couldn't help but realise their group synergy.

Everyone was signalling to one another implicitly, and knew who to pass to just by eye contact. For every runner, no two people go back to the runners. It was like they all had it planned out in their heads, we couldn't run away from it. And all the runners were thrown off-guard when all the pitchers were all throwing their surprise attacks on all the runners.

I noticed something about the runners too. Ethan was planning it out strategically. Being in table tennis, he started first because his CCA forced him to run. Lucas went next because Lucas was a frequent runner. Nicole and Eunice followed during to their average athletic ability, and Chloe ended it off because she struggled a lot. Being the last runner would help her remember how to play the game since she can't remember much apart from art and anime.

Ethan's group knew one another inside out; Crystal's group was connected by telepathy. Crystal and John didn't even need words to know what they thought, they knew what to do. It was like with one plan set in stone, they were able to convert to telepathy to execute the plan. I decided to talk to Crystal about it.
Crystal's POV
On the way back
Fiona Chan: Crystal, you and Ethan should get back together to form a group

Crystal: really? I thought he'd rather be with Chloe

Fiona Chan: your group is close enough to connect through telepathy. His group knows everyone so well they can assign roles in a group easily. When combined, everyone would be bonded together so closely you'll graduate together with smiles on your faces.

Crystal: well, I'll see if that can be done
