Chapter 40: Planning for the future

YZ's POV
"3 Faith, next year is your O Level year," Mdm Yeo declared. "However, I believe that you guys should be thinking of what courses you want to pursue after finishing your O Levels so you can plan out your future properly and truly focus on your studies next year. Based on your personality that I see, I have prepared some special flyers for everyone to look at. They are programmes to set you up for success as you plan your post secondary pathways."

When I got my brochures, Mdm Yeo told me I was getting something related to robotics and computing because she thought I had a personality that would deal with that first. Honestly, I never thought about what I wanted but I decided to take a look at the programmes anyway.

Nicole's POV

"Has Mdm Yeo been stalking your socials?" I asked Crystal in skepticism.

"Didn't she say she doesn't have Instagram?" She snapped back.

"Oh, but I thought she decided to download it. She's recommending a three day art school taster just for you. And we're talking about going back to Da Vinci here." She nodded in approval and that's when I realised she also got a weekend taster at The Smart Local and one day taster at Atelier Oost, the former being a backup option in Crystal's words. Crystal then muttered something about going for both The Smart Local and the art school taster since she knew too much about illustrator illustrations, and I decided to look at my options.

I somehow got the same programme for The Smart Local as her and wow, a week long programme of helping people at a kindergarten in Bishan! Early childhood is something I never considered, so my heart was set on getting the week long programme at the kindergarten.

Ethan ran to my table and announced he was going to do something related to business only because of his interview to go to China. Anika decided to go for the true blue doctor's residency at a local hospital for two weeks. John was exempted from the programme because he was attended a four day writing workshop. We're talking about becoming a hardcore writer here.

What else would Jennifer choose other than rhythmic gymnastics? The smart local programme, duh. She's such a hardcore influencer. And there's Lucas wanting to go to NUS to experience the organic chemistry lab sessions there. Chloe was going to keep it cool and decided on an animation taster in MediaCorp. (Her parents wouldn't let her go to the American or Japanese one)

Fiona Chan and Eunice decided to go and attend the psychologist taster together to experience what's it like to be a professional counsellor. Honestly, they have pretty similar profiles. Whether they chose to together or it was a coincidence remains a secret. Daphne decided to go to an aquarium to experience marine biology. I think she'd do great, she's someone that's great with animals, or at least that's my impression. I can't wait for the third term to start! Then we can share all our experiences at the career tasters.
