Chloe's POV
"Wow!" Everyone chorused as I walked into class, and my soul almost left my body when that happened. This was the first time I was ever praised for how I looked, because I did my hair in a Chinese bun and left strands out on purpose. John looked at me and nodded thoughtfully, saying, "You really deserve all the attention."
"Thanks," I replied. "Where did you get that samfu from?"
"Amazon." I burst into laughter before putting my things down, and Anika entered the room with a long flowing sari, dark blue and green mixed together. Her cape flowed through the air as she performed a few pirouettes and I was the only one that gasped. She was stunning.
"You guys have the opposite colour of your outfit," Anika remarked. "Pink, blue. Meanwhile, Ethan and Crystal actually went on with their matching outfits idea."
"I'm the class monitor of 3 Faith," Lucas declared. "I apologise for coming like this." ...he just wore a batik shirt? Well I think he looks cooler than he usually is! If I were to be honest I wasn't expecting this from him. Lucas didn't wear his glasses all the time, and today was one of those days. If he wears contacts, I will choose him in contacts over glasses.
"Wait guys," Nicole asked with hesitation. "I don't look like auntie with the baju kurung right?" There she was with a shining purple baju kurung, her hair in a low ponytail instead of the usual middle bun. For the first time ever, Nicole donned jewellery, making her shine brighter than her everyday smile.
"Wait!" YZ bellowed. "We agreed to do like a couple style right, but can you not walk so fast?" YZ sped to Nicole in a purple baju kurung, with a Malay twist of course. They put their things together and sped off to walk and talk together. Everyone looks so stunning today. But I think I look stunning too, and I don't think I did a bad job styling by myself for the first time.
Anika's POV
When there's Racial Harmony Day, there will be a Racial Harmony Day bazaar. The concourse was decorated with traditional games and foods of all kinds, fairy lights topping it all up. The six of us walked down to check out the bazaar. Chloe and I started out by checking out the food. An array of colours attracted us first, and we decided to try the ice gem biscuits together. Not only did it come together like a unique rainbow, but it was also sweet and crunchy. Every girl's dream.
Nicole's POV
The henna booth sold like hotcakes, so I'm surprised I even made it to the front. The parent volunteer agreed to help me with the henna, the paint squeezing and tickling me. I saw the drawing unfold before me, a beautiful butterfly evolving in front of my eyes. She drew gently, making sure that I wasn't pierced by the paint. When it ended, I thought glue was applied all over my hand. Oh well, I just have to let it try.
Lucas' POV
Picking up the Chapteh, I threw it down and kicked the chapteh. I kicked it a few times on my left leg, then forced myself to kick it a few times on the right. And just as I was going to transfer my chapteh leg to my left, the chapteh landed on the ground. That ended with a creepy trail of applause that belonged to...Crystal and Ethan's buddy?!
"Who thought we'd cross paths?" Ethan asked, chuckling casually. "Our exchange buddies think you're cool and really good at the chapteh."
"Thanks," I replied stoically. Their exchange buddies then started to talk with the English they know, and it was a brief moment of exchange as the ten of us came together to socialise. Well, Racial Harmony Day exists for a reason after all, and it's for our various races to get along as one. Even our original counterparts.
