YZ's POV
"Triple science and Literature as one subject?" My uncle asked me. "WOW YZ YOU'RE SO SMART!"

"Yea~~~" I replied casually. "Perfect way to escape A Math right?" They all nodded and o started to talk about my cousins' lives at Chinese New Year visiting, over love letters, ice gem biscuits and best of all? Pineapple tarts, the classic!

Ethan's POV

"Mahjong!" I declared with confidence, and all my cousins and even my little sister (7 years my junior) groaned.

"Our Ethan always so smart! Not only does he beat everyone in the family with all the games, I can't believe your oldest [son] is in the top class! Pure science and A Math some more~" My grandmother admitted. "All that with student council and table tennis? Girl, he surpassed you when you were 15!"

"You know what's better? He's at the quarterfinals for National School Games now!" My mother continued. "But it's not like my Geraldine isn't doing any better. She won silver for her most recent ballet recital."

"Really, I'm so glad I raised you well. Then I'll have two lovely, excellent grandchildren." I just stopped packing up and started laughing awkwardly. Yes, my sister and I are awesome at ballet and math respectively, but does our mother have to be so open about our achievements? It can get embarrassing.

Nicole's POV

"8 subjects in a school that offers 7?" My oldest cousin asked in shock. "What's the 8th?"

"Nothing much, just literature because I'm a professional yapper~" I replied casually. "And I'm also going to be the choir vice president too!"

"Wow, that must be some big stuff. Although you act like a debate club student, you really have a gift for singing! Sing us a classic later!"

"Alright everyone, if you insist! Drop in some song recommendations right here, right now! But it must be Chinese because it's called Chinese new year for a reason!"

Lucas' POV

"Are you kidding? 8 subjects, 1 being external and the student conductor of the school concert band?" My uncle asked while bouncing his newborn son on his lap. I nodded.

"You know I always had a thing for music," I replied coolly. "Plus, I'm going to have a debut event for my youth orchestra soon. I'll get my dad to send you the details."

"Youth orchestra too? Now that's our musician!" My uncle handed me his newborn son, which I had a chance to play with.

John's POV

"How surprising does the president of Spin Doctors get?" My grandfather asked. "You always had a thing for creative writing since young. Not like your sister, who's a lot more into people! Tell your big sister to get a minor in creative writing lah."

"She says she wants to focus on her degree," I admitted bashfully. "And I technically take 9 subjects, English, Math, Chinese, Chemistry, Biology, Social Studies, History, Literature and Music."

"That means you want to become a psychologist like your sister!"

"Haha, we'll see. Writing is always the first choice."

Crystal's POV

Applause filled the living room. "8 subjects for both twins?" My grandmother replied. "And Chloe is triple science?"

"Yea, I got both of them to take pure science to open their options up and both girls decided to gun for 8 subjects. I'm proud of my Crystal who chose literature, I always knew she had a thing for it."

"Both are doing what they enjoy, so I'm happy."

"But the eternal question, extracurricular tiebreaker," my uncle declared coldly. "What are their positions now?" I felt my heart treat beat faster in dread. They only managed to avert the comparisons with Chloe's triple science, but we couldn't avoid the ending.

"Chloe is still a normal student, and Crystal is the company leader of Girl Guides. She's leading the opening ceremony for the incoming guides next month." A gush of whispers could be heard amongst my relatives, and I knew they were talking about the news my mother has broken. Chloe then took out her iPad and Apple Pencil, which shook me because she was always ready to draw. She started doodling to take her mind off things, because I knew she had gotten an offer recently to draw for some anime magazine that'll be published online.

This year is going to make me, but it's going to break Chloe.
