Anika's POV
"You may begin," the teacher announced, and we flipped over the paper all at once.
The MCQs were a breeze to me! I nailed them in less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately, I forgot that it was just 5 marks out of 35. I was soon facing the open ended questions.
Initially, everything was fine. I was able to get through the first question without much trouble because it was more of stating the terms more than anything. However, the second question was when things started to get tricky. I had to write the functions of the heart, I mean, blood vessels. What's worse? I have we only given a letter so I had to write it. A was the pulmonary artery, but I forgot what that does. It carried oxygenated blood from the heart to the body, I guess! I'll just write that, and move on. Alright, that question stumped me, but if I can use whatever I remember, I should be able to scrap through this test with an A.
Wait, I can't remember everything! How do I write about enzymes? I know they are denatured, but I forgot about the vibrations in the enzymes! They vibrated to increased its reactivity? What do I remember, and what do I not? But since my guessing method has got me somewhere, maybe I should write a really short sentence about how the reactivity increases until it passes its ideal pH and temperature. Hopefully, all that guessing gets me an A at least.
Crystal's POV (in a later chapter you'll understand why I added her POV)
It's the final test of the term, so I knew I had to finish it off with a bang. I started the test with absolute sharpness, making sure something as simple as the MCQs didn't trick me. There were so many possibilities of answers, gut feeling was a lousy indicator. When it came to the open-ended questions, I had the weapons to nail them. Not being complacent over easy questions like stating the functions of the body systems, I was able to tap onto my biology knowledge that I have worked hard on. After all, biology involves memory work, but not rote memorising. Active recall really did save my life this round, huh?
Epilogue
8 point compass chat
John: The bio WA was so hard!
YZ: Yea, it was harder than I thought
Crystal: Whyyy I thought it was doable 😅
John: Oh, that's good! :) Was it Daphne's study channel? 😏
Crystal: My mother studied with all of us leading up to the test.
Nicole: You, Chloe, Jennifer
Crystal: Yes. Anyway she was a pure bio student at our age. Apparently she only studied it because the school asked her to, but she never really forgot what she learnt years back.
John: The support you got from your new mother saved you! What about things you did to help yourself?
Crystal: Cover and Test method, Quizlet flash cards
Anika: The test was doable?
Nicole: It was fine. Right @/Chloe?
Chloe: Yea, only last question was tough.
Anika: Oh god, I am cooked 😭 I didn't know what I was writing half the time
Chloe: Don't let that define you! You have done your best already!
John: Yea Anika!
Anika: Thanks guys, I hope I at least pass this one 🫠boohoohoo, there goes my A streak*
*Anika had gotten A for every subject the last semester
